View Full Version : Did The Yankees Not Offer Enough To Sabathia?

This is an interesting bit.

Basically it wonders if Sabtahia may be better off accepting the 5/$100MM offer from Milwaukee as opposed to the 6/$140MM offer from the Yankees.

Why? Well when calculating cost of living and the additional taxes he would pay in NYC he may end up making about the same with either contract.

I hope he stays with Milwaukee, he was a monster there last year.

I think he'll end up staying in the NL so he can swing the bat. The Dodgers and Giants are both interested in him too.

As a Yankees fan, I'd like to see him join. But Milwaukee retaining a player like him would be good to see.

On a per-pound basis, the Yankee offer is still higher!:p

Sabathia has:
2 great seasons left
1 Good season
and that's all folks...

He's dramatically over weight for a pitcher - he will have health problems (mark my words)
he will not pay off well on a long deal xnodx if he makes 10 starts in the 4th year of his next deal I will be shocked

Maybe he isn't totally motivated by money. Once you have $25 Million does it really matter? Not to mention the Brew Crew was actually a playoff team this year, the Yankees not so much.

But, but, but that's what you said about David Wells in 1996! :p

I think CC should stay in the NL, but that's just for selfish reasons.

I understand completely the David Wells argument...
But Wells never threw over 90 and was mostly a curve-ball / deception kind of guy

C.C. will probably need to get his "deception" working because throwing like he does
and working as hard as he does on the mound... he ain't going to make it very long

Frankly, I wouldn't count on Sabbathia come the postseason anyway - he'll help during the year but he's been knocked around in his playoff starts. For that reason I wouldn't pay him the kind of money someone's going to end up paying him.
