The last regular season NJ high school football game is always played on Thanksgiving day. It's a great tradition and always brings out the biggest crowds since everyone is home for the holidays. I don't believe DE, MD, PA, VA, NY or many states on the east coast around me share this tradition.

Who else plays high school games on Thanksgiving day?

Many schools in PA still play on Thanksgiving Day, although some have given it up because of the playoffs. Some schools have done both, having to play 3 games in 2 days over Thanksgiving weekend.

I would say "Most" have given it up. I seem to recall a lot of the suburban Philly teams used to play Turkey Day. C.B West-C.B. East was a Thanksgiving game.
In the Lehigh Valley area, all that's left are Easton-P'Burg, Northampton-Catty and Quakertown-Pennridge. E.Stroudsburg-Stroudsburg is gone. Add them to a list that includes Allen-Liberty (later Allen-Dieruff), Emmaus-Whitehall, Wilson-Nazareth and Pen Argyl-Bangor.

In VA and TN we're in the throws of playoffs. No Turkey Day games.

In Baltimore we have the Turkey Bowl at M&T Stadium. Calvert Hall vs Loyola, two big Catholic schools up in Towson. I think City Poly was also played after this game as a double header back when Baltimore City schools weren't allowed in the State playoffs. Now that they are, and have been for close to 15 years now, the playoffs start this weekend, so they play the City-Poly game two weekends before Thanksgiving.

There's a high school game in Detroit every Thanksgiving Day. It involves the Lions. xnodx xlolx xbawlingx

When did the playoffs start?

Last week.
Man.

If Jackson Provine's QB had not went down 5 games ago, they had a real chance to knock off South Panola.
Jackson Provine has the best Defense in the state and was all on S.P in the first half but could not move the ball.

Then S. P. unleashed BIG Parker.xsmhx
He finished with 36 carries, 240 yards and 3 td's.
They beat Provine 20-8.

10-2 Northwest Rankin has the next shot at The University this Friday.
They took out Tupelo last week.
Tupelo almost beat South Panola at the season end.
But as usual, BIG Parker was the difference.
Tupelo lost 13-14 at home on a last second TD from Big.

Meridian (11-1) at Hattiesburg (9-3)

Mississippi State commit........REAL DEAL......UNBELEVABLE QB.
'Cats won regular season matchup 42-26 in October. Tyler Russell and Co. have averaged 51 points over last four games.

C-L Says: Meridian 40-23

D'Iberville (11-1) at Northeast Jones (9-3)
Tigers sent highly rated Lawrence County home last week. They'll have a similar opportunity against explosive Warriors.

C-L Says: D'Iberville 30-20

Louisville (9-3) at Corinth (12-0)
Defending 3A champions face tough road test against unbeaten Warriors in rematch of last year's North half final.

C-L Says: Louisville 23-20

Tylertown (10-0) at Newton County (11-1)
RB Floyd Graves went over 2,000-yard mark last week, but yards may be hard to come by against stingy Chiefs D allowing just 6.7 points per game.

C-L Says: Newton Co. 21-14

Baldwyn (11-1) at West Bolivar (10-2)
Defending 2A state champion Eagles haven't allowed more than 1 TD in a month. Xzadrian Shelley makes Bearcats go.

C-L Says: West Bolivar 20-13

East Webster (11-0) at Calhoun City (9-2)
Wolverines have been No. 1 all season in 1A, but must beat 'Cats a second time after 22-21 win in September.

C-L Says: E. Webster 28-21

Big first round matchups here in Hillsborough County:
Class 4A: Winter Haven (7-4) at Armwood (10-0) The Hawks are nationally ranked by every major prep service, but don't expect them to take Winter Haven lightly. The Blue Devils are battle-tested after having played the likes of Lakeland (10-0) and Lake Wales (10-1) — and have a defense with five shutouts. The question is, can Winter Haven score? Armwood has allowed only 42 points. Linebackers Petey Smith, a four-year starter, and Casey Callahan are the perfect complements to the country's premier defensive front. Winner:Armwood

Class 4A: Lakewood (7-3) at Plant (9-1) Lakewood has the type of players to give Plant trouble. But the Spartans have one major issue: Quarterback/defensive back Jacquez Jenkins, arguably their top player, won't play after tearing the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Lakewood's defense is solid enough to keep it in the game, but only if it can find away to contain Panthers WR Orson Charles, who has more than 1,000 receiving yards. Winner: Plant (who is playing with a Soph. QB due to Georgia Commitment Aaron Murray breaking his leg about a month ago)

Class 5A: Kissimmee Osceola (7-3) at Newsome (8-2) The Kowboys advanced to the 5A title game last year, and Newsome is making its first playoff appearance in the school's six-year history. The Wolves have dominated on both sides of the ball since a loss to Armwood in Week 4. Sophomore running back Conner Powers has rushed for 1,121 yards, including six 100-yard games, and 11 touchdowns. The Kowboys have four backs with at least 380 yards rushing. Winner: Osceola

My brother played on his HS team in MA...and his senior was the last year they had football...he always played in the Thanksgiving day rivalry game...

Well, they restarted football two years ago, and this Thanksgiving he's going to the game with his letter jacket...pretty neat
