Not a surprise, but I thought they would wait until after the season.
Any speculation on who will get hired?
Turner Gill at Buffalo is a name I've heard.

Before I read the post...I saw the tag-line and thought--- TURNER GILL.
Perfect choice for Syracuse.

It's about time. His tenure was an unmitigated disaster.

It's Turner Gill's to turn down IMO. He will make a great fit there and get them back on the map. xthumbsupx

about time... that program has sucked for years... 1-10 in 05, 4-8 in 06, 2-10 in 07, and 2-8 so far in 08

I hope the Orange don't improve, seems like they are the only Big East team USF can consistently beat. xlolx

Not only were they losing, they were losing by big margins. I'm suprised that Robinson lasted as long as he did. I think the Big East kicked out the wrong team. I'd much rather have Temple.xlolx

Gill's a good idea. Though I've little doubt that should he turn things around, he'll bolt for a Big 12 job or something similar.
A couple of people I'd like to see them check out are Mark Whipple and Tim Murphy. I think Dick Biddle is too old to get serious consideration from the Syracuse athletic department.

Supposedly, Randy Edsall's "close sources" say he is highly interested in the job.
I am not seeing that, even though he is a Syracuse alumn...it is a lateral move at best.

Anyone have a prediction on where Greg Robinson will end up?

Selling insurance in Des Moines, Iowa is my best guess.
He's unlikely to get another head coaching job at any level. The number of mistakes he made is mind-boggling.

Yeah, talks of him ending up as an assistant somewhere. He is my roommate's cousin, I am not exactly sure how distant but it's true. We've been watching with some interest.

he'll probably go to be a coordinator at a lower level school or a position assistant at a high level school

Edsall was mentioned for the Syracuse job back when Robinson was hired. He turned it down then and I think he'd do the same this time. I don't like UCONN but credit must be given to Edsall for what he's built there. I personally think he's happy and will stay at UCONN for quite some time.

Syracuse is a mess right now. It'd be stupd for Edsall to leave UConn for that place. Also, the folks at SU will want to think long and hard before going after another Big East coach. While I realize that poaching from within a conference doesn't violate any rules, it's considered bad form. Also, the Big East is, overall, a fairly weak conference. Stealing coaches from within is not in the leagues best interests.

The guy has been in the NFL & the top level programs of college football, I doubt he is going to end up coaching HS because he sucked at Syracuse. I wouldn't him being the DC of my team.
