Since the NCAA mandated schools move their football teams from D-III to D-IAA in the early 90s how many of those schools have dropped football? Others?
My list:
St. Marys'(CA)
Fairfield
St. John
Canisius
St. Peter
Evansville
LaSalle(never was D-III but added and dropped)
East Tennessee State(never was D-III)

Morris Brown disbanded it's entire athletic department, and since it lost accreditation, couldn't be in the NCAA anyway. Since you only asked about the D-IIIs, they and Boston U (and Northridge?) shouldn't be on the list. Except for St. Mary's and Evansville, the rest were all in the MAAC.

Lamar dropped in 1989 (just outside of early 1990s) and is bringing it back. They will be in SLC for 2011. First year on field is 2010.

This link does not answer the question, but the column in black on the left is interesting:

I know both Bradley and Wichita State had football programs, not sure when they dropped them. I think the Shockers were in the early 80s? And then the Braves were maybe the 70s?

I dropped a Panchero's burrito bomb in class that had somebody two rows down looking around for the origination of the horrid stench.

Actually it was Ned Beatty who dropped the soap. It was Yosef who made him regret it, before catching an arrow to the chest.xwhistlex

Hmmmmmm...always a tough choice. Getting embarrassed in the National Championship game (as hard as we tried, our D could not manage to look as slow as those MEAC refs – mentally or physically) or taking an untimely exit in order to get an early start on the holiday Saturday shopping specials. xchinscratchx
String theory says that we might be able to experience both of those scenarios, but I think UD will stick with being the unofficial champion of the last official Gateway football season. :D
However, on the good side, we've taken early holiday generosity to a new level here in Delaware. xxmasx Our coach decided to let RS play Santa Claus in September and October as he seemed intent on giving away as many airborne “fumbles” as humanly possible. xnodx Maybe we're thinking of just dropping the offensive side of football. xeyebrowx
Gonna’ have to spend Thanksgiving weekend rooting for you guys; if UD can't win then I root for the CAA. xpeacex

Eric Sanders dropped the football at a very bad time in December 2005. However Jason Hunter made sure it wasn't dropped for long as he picked it up, ran 15 yards and gave it to the official. xnodx
