Penn State loses to a pretty bad Iowa team--a bad loss. I believe Penn State can still win a crappy Big Ten if they win out, but that is not a certainty. Perhaps it is off to the Rose Bowl to get crushed by USC, or more likely another freakin Citrus Bowl after they lose to Michigan State.
This was Joe's last chance to play for the National Title. They will be good over the next few years, but this was their year. SInce this is the last year of his contrcat he may be done. Joe has always said he will go as long as his health allows it, now that he is physically banged up this may be it for Joe.

We may have a bunch of 1 loss teams. TTU and AL may well lose yet, so there will be half a dozen teams 'laying claim'...Do I hear Boise State??;)

Boise State "lays claim" to nothing. If they are so good, why can't they get out of the damn WAC? I would guarantee a lose by Boise St. in any BCS bowl they play, but guarantees haven't worked out for me lately...
I just can't stand "talk" of teams like Boise State and Utah.

A trip to Florida is order. (Tampa or Orlando) Personally I'd like to see the Spartans come here.

Boise should do to the PAC 10. The PAC 10 has nothing to lose they are already viewed as a weak conference outside of USC and if Boise is consistently contending for BCS bowls and winning them (see Oklahoma) they should at least try it.

While there's no debating that Boise St. is a quality football program that is currently better than than several Pac-10 teams, their inclusion in any Pac-10 expansion is so bloody unlikely that I almost came close to declaring "Never Happen" with respect to it.
First off, the Pac-10 has made it clear that right now, they have absolutely zero inclination to expand. They like the current arangement. The only negative is that AD's have is that they don't play the same number of home conference games each year. It alternates between 4 and 5.
Should the Pac-10 expand, they'd probably include 2 schools, so as to reach the "magic" number of 12 for a football championship game. There are 4 things they'll be looking for in any potential candidates for membership:
1) Quality football program (Boise has this)
2) Quality basketball program (No)
3) Excellent facilities. (I'm not familiar with Boise St.'s athletic facilities. But, they'd have to be better than Wazzu's or UofA's.)
4) Significant TV market (Oh, hell no on this one!)
Right now, the programs that make the most sense for inclusion in Pac-10 expansion would be BYU and Utah. They'd bring pretty much the entire state into the Pac-10's TV market. Plus, both schools are rivals, which fits in nicely with the current membership, all whom can be paired up into regional arch-rivalries.
Some other schools that would be pursued with much greater interest than Boise include: Colorado, New Mexico and Fresno. All 3 have major strikes against them, (current BCS conference membership, weak football program, weak academics) but they'd be more attractive than Boise.

You know, I was really hoping that Penn St. would go 12-0, get shut out of the title game, win the Rose Bowl and announce JoePa's retirement.
I thought it would be fitting if his final season at Penn St. ended with his team unbeaten, but sans national championship, as it has occurred to him like 4 times before.
