According to SI, the Phils are all in to try to replace Pat Burrell with Matt Holliday. It would be a great pick-up, albeit only for one year with his free agency looming after next season. I'm OK with offering any of the named players with the exception of Victorino. No way you can let him go after the season he just had:

If the Phils want Holliday, it will cost them the Flyin' Hawaiian plus a couple good prospects. Holliday is an absolute monster and would easily hit 40 homers in Citizen's Bank Park.

I hope if the deal happens that it doesn't involve Victorino.

While I think Holliday would do well as a Phillie, I think you're overrating Citizen's Bank Park's effect on HRs and offense in general. It was middle of the road this year for park factor for runs scored, and 11th for relating to HR. Although a few years ago CBP was up near the top with Coors Field, Texas, etc. it's been about average the last few years...

The Rockies either aren't going to trade him or aren't gonna get much major league talent for him if he's gonna be a one year rental. I think the Phils will be interested if he wants to talk contract.

Yep, ever since they MOVED THE WALL BACK and the PHILS GOT DECENT PITCHERS, it hasn't been such the hitters park.xthumbsupx

A top four of Rollins, Utley, Holliday, Howard. Wow.

Might as well keep going for broke when you have the Rollins/Utley/Howard/Hamels/Myers/Lidge core together, you never know how long it will last.

The Phils won't be trading a Major League outfielder for Holliday - the whole point of getting Holliday in the first place is to fill a hole in the outfield with Burrell leaving. Victorino would certainly stay with the Phils. If they do swing Holliday, look for it to include basically minor leaguers (Phils don't have tons of good ones but probably enough to make this trade happen) and potential Major League pitchers. They aren't going to trade Lidge, Madson, or Romero from the bullpen but anyone else is fair game. If they could do this trade and get him a contract so he's more than a year rental I would do it in a heartbeat.

I'd think three of the four out of Happ/Carrasco/Donald/Marson would get it done, especially if Holliday is not going to sign a long-term deal.

So what else would the Sox be throwing in to that trade?

Nothing according to ESPNRadio. Apparently the Phillies came to the Sox. If I were Kenny Williams I would jump all over that!

I would, too . . . I'm not sure what the Phillies think they'd be gaining there. Other than age.

Don't believe everything you read. I think there are a lot of bored baesball writers out there.

The Phils aren't going to trade Victorino for Holliday. Holliday only has one year left on his contract and Scott Boras is his agent, Holliday will ask for the moon.
