Looks like the surprise team of this year that is on everyone's playoff list has a not-so-tough schedule either, with not-so-dazzling performances versus VMI, Gardner Webb, Elon, Liberty, and arguably Savannah State too. Sure they beat JMU, but JMU isn't that good this year. If I had to pick between the two, I would go with South Carolina State. And it could very well come down to choosing one of the two.

...has the head to head match up versus SCSU. 24-23 in Orangeburg. Plus, Coastal has the better record at this point. But I don't think it's between them right now, and if it is, I don't think it will be after Saturday.

True, but if you consider their SoS's to be about equal, I really think SCSU has the edge in performance.

I have to disagree, especially about VMI...
That game was probably one of our better games this season. I've been to each home game and the SCSU game, so I have a little bit to draw from in that opinion. Not saying your opinion is shoddy, just asking you if you'd please explain what about our game vs. VMI you find "disappointing."
I'm also still not buying this whole "Oh, well JMU sucks now so CCU's win doesn't count" bit. Just because we happen to be 8-1 at this point, does that make our loss to ASU diminish in any fashion? No, it doesn't. I understand a win is much different from a loss...I just don't buy into this opinion at all.

You aren't stating anything that hasn't been said 1800 other times already. Have you even watched any of CCU's games this year? Not all games were played to the best of the players' ability but we have won all but that now infamous 30-3 debacle in week 3. I know you are just adding your own :twocents: but c'mon!!

I would definitely pick CCU over SCState. JMU may not be as good as last year in your eyes, but to me we're pretty much the same, but we just don't win as many close ones as last year (hell, last year was pretty much all close one's). I don't think our less than stellar performance should take anything away from CCU's performance.
SCState doesn't have a win that is comparable to CCU's JMU win, IMO. VMI is not too good on record, but they did give Lehigh a scare at home, losing 28-26.

Not true. It's more to do with the fact that VMI shouldn't be even discussed.
SC State, James Madison, ASU are your only quality opponents. Most I-AA followers realize that.
All the rationalizing in the world can't make up for that.

Not sure why you think I am talking about VMI or am rationalizing anything. It is true that some people simply don't like us. I don't disagree with your above comment about quality opponents.

You're right, it should have directed at the JMU and other CCU poster.
VMI at 3-7 is not a team that added anything to a list of quality opponnets.
It remains a fact that CCU upgraded its schedule this year to include 3 quality opponents total.

You're right about VMI and Lehigh, but the fact reamains that VMI is a 3-7 team with a pretty weak schedule to boot and adds nothing to CCU's list of 3 quality opponents.

Of course, but in my book CCU looks better than SC State. I'm not going to make any statements as to whether either will get in, but because of the reasons I gave earlier, CCU definitely gets the nod over SC State IMO.

I'd definitely agree with that since CCU took care of SCSU at their house.
