Cardinals are 5-3, with three game lead over rest of division (which is the worst in the NFL).
Next two games are against SF and Seattle.

Go Cards!
okay, okay. I admit that the only reason I'm pulling for them is because they have UNI alum, Kurt Warner as QB. But anyway.

I'm glad to see this. I've been a Kurt Warner fan since he played for the Rams.

They don't have Marcel Shipp anymore (former UMass RB), but I'll still root for them anyway, especially with another CAA guy (Hightower) as their #1 RB now. And I always enjoy seeing traditionally bad teams succeed, in any sport.

I'm definitely rooting for the Cards. Love to seem teams that don't normally make the playoffs get a chance.
That said, how friggin pitiful is the NFC West this year? xsmhx

How sad is it that your East Coast Bias even applies to the NFL? :D :D :D :D

Yeah, Shipp was good, but Hightower is much better.
Gotta love the UNI (Warner) to Richmond (Hightower) handoffs!
Also have players from Northern Colorado - Dirk Johnson (Punter xeekx )
Northern Iowa - Brandon Keith
Brown - Sean Morey
Delaware - Ben Patrick
Tennessee State - Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie
UC-Davis - Elliot Vallejo

Steve Baylark still lurks as a practice squad player. So UMass fans have another reason to jump on the bandwagon!! xthumbsupx

Mediocrity, thy name is "The Buzzsaw that is the Arizona Cardinals (http://deadspin.com/5042134/nfl-season-preview-arizona-cardinals)."
The really sad thing in all of this: Mediocrity is a gigantic improvement for this pathetic excuse of a sports franchise.
Even when (and I do mean when, not if) the Cards go back to sucking monkey balls and attendance dwindles the point where one can buy a decent ticket on gameday, I won't be going. Screw that drive to Glendale!

Considering taking Arizona this weekend in my survivor pool (which I'm still in after 8 weeks). Started with 4,000 and only 200 left.
I've had some really close calls the last four weeks, with all of the games being decided on 4th Q scores and 3 on last second field goals.
Do you guys thing AZ will make it an easy one this weekend?

This week, yes. AZ at home has beaten Buffalo and Dallas. On the road, usually not so hot.
SF is in turmoil.

Man, you took the words right out of my mouth. SO out.
Don't look now, but if the playoffs started today, the Cards would host the Bucs, then most likely travel back to Charlotte for a rematch in round 2. xpopcornx xpopcornx

Bitter? Where are you getting that from? I think the Arizona Cardinals franchise is contemptable in how they've been run for decades. That's not bitter, that's disgust.

You never have anything good to say about Arizona pro franchises, or their fans. Typical of the smug east-coasters that move out here, tell everyone how great "home" was, how great the fans of "their" team is, and then wonder why the Arizona teams have low support.
And of course, end up living in Arizona for life, and never want to move back home...

It's only a half hour drive for me, but I don't like the Pro crowds. Or maybe I just made a mistake going when the Raiders were in town.

You need to pay more attention. I like the Suns.
Is there an NHL team in Phoenix? I seem to recall going to games a few years back, but I haven't noticed if they're still around.
For the record, I've never insisted Philly sports fans are great, nor have I ever talked about home being "great." (Seriously, have you been to Philly? It's a f--king *****hole. It'd take an awesome job to get me to move there, and once all my family's dead, not so much. And I'd rather live in Tempe than Bethlehem, PA any day).
I've made an astute observation (with some biting sarcasm thrown in) that overall, Phoenix is not a great pro-sports town. That's due primarily to the large number of transplants who've not "abandoned" their home-town teams.
But, there's definitely an upside to that. For example, I never buy D'Backs tickets in advance. There are always good seats available at the box office for walk-up purchase, or I can get a good deal from scalpers! xnodx

Via ValleyMetro bus, Sun Devil stadium is 15 minutes and $1.25 one-way fare from me. I'm too used to the ease of getting in and out of downtown Tempe for games.

Bulldog - Raider game :smfh:
MG - Yes, the Coyotes play in Glendale too. Mistake, IMHO to build up there, but it is what it is.
I get tickets when I want them as well, but as someone who moved to Arizona, has no plans of going back to Illinois, I support my hometown teams...

Agree with you about Glendale, but nobody else wanted it. The real mistake was made when the Suns' arena was built. They should have made it so it was suitable for NHL play. When you have 2 arenas like that in the same market, both struggle to attract enough events to make money. Some examples include Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul and now Newark/North Jersey.
It didn't matter as much where the football stadium went. It gets used for 10 NFL games (8 regular season/2 pre-season) and a handful of other events for a total of about 30 dates a year. When dealing with a venue of that size, getting fans in, parked, to their seats, then back out again the primary concern. So football stadia are better suited to more remote locales.

Agree on both. Scottsdale even would have been better for the NHL.
People will drive a long way for a football game every couple weeks, not so far for a weeknight hockey game.

I recall them talking about building it at the site of the old Los Arcos mall on the SE corner of Scottsdale and McDowell. While that would seem a good spot for the East Valley, I think it would have been a traffic nightmare for the area. It's just far enough away from the 202 and 101 to clog surface streets.

Arizona Beats Seattle to go to 7-3, have a four game lead (really five, since they swept SF) over the Niners, 5 game lead over Seattle and St. Louis.

Tennessee State's Dominic Rogers-Cromartie had his first two NFL picks, including one that sealed the win.

Giants visit AZ next weekend
Returning to the scene of last year's great victory :D
I'd like to see improvement in the pass rush, especially against a team that throws as much as the Cards do. If we can keep the ball on the ground offensively, I certainly like our chances
A trip to Arizona, just like old NFC East times xthumbsupx
