The high school playoffs start here today, so it got me thinking...

Do any of you guys still keep up with your high school or go to the games?

Me, I look at the scores and records but haven't been to a game since I graduated

Same here. The football team is so up and down every year.

But it's funny...the boys/girls soccer teams and boys/girls lacrosse teams continually, year after year, go to regionals/states and win regional & state trophies. So I DO follow those teams. Not bad for the smallest high school in the county, huh? That's out of 23 when I was in high school, FYI...I believe there are around 35 high schools in the county now.

What area is this?

Hell, I went to HS in Raleigh(Wake County), and thats the biggest county and we only had 16, there are 19 now, but every school has over 2000 kids, so maybe thats why

Northern Virginia, Fairfax County. My school had less than 1,200 the year I graduated.

When I lived in Delaware, I would always catch a football game or two every season. I still keep tabs on my HS by checking the Delaware paper online. BTW, my highschool soccer team is ranked in the top ten in the country.

I keep up.

I will be going to more games in the near future as my other brother should be playing much more at the varsity level (frosh now). He just finished his frosh season breaking the record for passing yards and TDs (22 in 7 games). He plays like that at the varsity level, and we just might be talking about him in 5 years or so. But I'll kill him if he follows a current quarterback from his high school now playing in I-AA. :)

I'll bite on the teaser - what fine I-AA institution does the previous QB now attend?

Here in Ohio we began last week... Of course High School Football here is life in case you were wondering; on ESPN they rated us #3 behind California and Texas! We were in front of FLORIDA!

Just look at these stadiums! FYI: This is a middle school game; the hs games are packed!

Steubenville Harding Stadium; these people are as obsessed as you can get with football.

And Cardinal Mooney; my alumni is the green; they are our arch rival. They have our number and they won state last year; they are going to win state this year again.

Let's just say it's one that has a bit of history with Colgate, and the games don't usually go Colgate's way. :bang:

(nothing against the fine institution though)

I haven't kept up with my old Texas high school FB team at all. I lost touch after I moved back East for good.

Montana started last week, and in some cases the week before that. My high school is in the AA classification (the equivalent of AAAA in most other states), and is playing a semi-final game tonight against our cross town rival. The only game I have been to are the big rivalry twice, including the last time they played in the playoffs. The funny thing is this game features the two best QB recruits in the state, and one of them could be a Griz next year.

I still check the scores in the paper which lists all of PAs h.s. scores. LIve too far away to attend, but still follow our local hs where my kids went and still graduated--Easton--#2 in PA in all-time wins and #7 in US in all-time wins. District playoffs begin tonight with Easton facing Bethlehem Liberty in Bethlehem. Crowd of about 8-10,000 expected--plus you have two of the finest marching bands in the country playing, also.A great show for all.

No, never.

I can't even remember what HS I attended.

Easton/P'Burgh is a great rivalry.

Easton/P'Burgh is a great rivalry.

Yes--one of the oldest in the nation and one of the most rabid. Two towns separated by the Delaware River. Game is always played at Lafayette's Fisher Field since capacity with extra bleachers goes up to about 15,000. P-burg will be the favorite this year, though Easton is 8-2, the Stateliners are undefeated. Game was televised nationally back in the late 1980's on ESPN as the first HS game to be so broadcast. Was a great last second victory for P-burg as I recall. Easton leads the series, roughly 55-40 with a few ties.

Nope, not since Homecoming of my freshman year in college.

My high school team was very poorly coached when I was there. We had great talent, but the coaches just couldn't do anything with it. As soon as I graduated, they get a new coach and win the state championship. They're playing for their second in a row tomorrow. I just love high school football in general, but its great to see them doing well again. One of my favorite things in the world is probably going to a good old fashioned outdoor football game on a chilly fall Friday night. I think it'll be awhile before I stop attending high school games.
