This is a game that will match two identical teams in all styles for the NEC Tiltle. Big time RBs, good Defenses, and limited QB play. The only advantage I can see for UA is there Oline. They are physical and wear teams down. The advantage MU has is they are probably further ahead @ QB. Neither team has a dominant WR.

Albany makes too many mistakes by way of penalties so this is something they cant do or they will pay the price. The game is literally a toss up.

UA 16
MU 13

This is going to be a great game.

Albany needs to play a complete game, which they haven't done all year.

Against UMass - two quarters
Hofstra - about 3.5 quarters
UNH - 3 quarters
Delaware - 2 quarters
CCSU - 2 quarters
St. Francis - 3 drives.

This is as evenly matched a game as Albany has played all year. Albany has an edge on the O-line but I think Monmouth has an edge at QB (unless of course Esposito can play like he did in the 2nd quarter of UNH).

Monmouth's OOC games were tough this year and the close loss to Maine shows their toughness. Maine is a pretty good team this year. Their loss to Coastal at home is suspect now considering Coastal is pretty bad (losing to SBU and VMI). Same can be said for Albany getting blown out in the second-half by Delaware who isn't good either.

Sinisi is great. McCarty is great. The weather may effect this game a lot. That field was destroyed after the tropical storm is went through this weekend. Any sort of precipitation on Saturday will cause havoc for everyone. Right now there is a chance of a cold rainy day in Albany. I'm not sure who that helps though.

And while this game will likely determine the NEC championship, Monmouth still has to play a pretty good Sacred Heart team. Albany on the other hand has a relatively easy close out with RMU and Wagner.

I'll give the edge to Albany at home. 21-17.

Unfortunately I cannot be there. I've promised my brother that I'd go up in the booth for him at his HS playoff game on Saturday (he's the head coach). He needs some eyes in the sky this week....

With the game being this tight I’m gong with the homer call too! Albany’s torn up turf will favor non-stop Sinisi. Monmouth 27-14.

That is a good thing...since URI is a DIII team.

Skin of your teeth vs. Monmouth.

Hey...we beat Hofstra.

I bet you Bryant would give URI a game...and they are provisional.

Thes two teams together could not beat a good D2 team.

Actually both of these teams used to beat up on pretty good D2 teams. These two teams along with some of the others from the NEC (CCSU is another one that comes to mind) now schedule some of the better FCS playoff teams instead.

Pretty good D2 teams, from the all powerfull NE 10 Conf?xconfusedx

Dude why don't you crawl back into the CAA basement where you came from. Either that or start a smack thread about the NEC.

This will be questioned, and even difficult for me to say because the teams seem to be evenly matched, BUT ALBANY ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED MONMOUTH IN THE 2nd Half. Destroyed both defensively and offensively. It was an insane performance.

It wasnt even close. They outscored the Hawks 35-3 in the second-half. McCarty had 23 yards in the first on 5 carries...ended up with 208 yards on 31 carries (26 carries for 185 yards in the second half). The line was dominant, the defense got through a tough stretch where our two top players went down for a spell to shut down Sinisi who ran well in the first half.

A tale of two halfs...with Albany's second half-performance much more devestating than Monmouth's very good first half.

My question is: What the heck does McCarty have to do to be in the Payton discussion. He is just shy of 1400 yards, has rushed for over 100 yards in 14 of the last 15 games...and has scored in 17 straight! Arguably, Albany is just average without McCarty.

Albany, has gone 11-0 in the NEC in the past 11 games.

final score: UAlbany 35, Monmouth 17

UA can clinch a share of the NEC Title next week and a trip to the Gridiron Classic next week. There still is a Gridiron Classic right?

First, hats off to Albany, we got killed in the 2nd half.

Second, I'm not going to make any excuses, but from my vantage pt. MU got royally screwed on the long Sinisi run where he fumbled. If that wasn't a horse collar tackle, I don't know what one is!!!

Third, MU got no breaks. Albany snaps one over the punter's head and instead of having the ball deep inside Albany's territory, the punter completes a 50 yds pass to an ineligible lineman. Therefore, 5 yd penalty and re-kick. Result, MU ball at its own 13. (MU up 14-7 at this pt.) The 2 Sinisi fumbles, both deep inside Albany territory.

Fourth, what the hell was MU doing down 21-17 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter, and running 2 straight plays up the middle on 2nd and 27 and then 3rd and 27????

Dane96
November 1st, 2008, 06:59 PM
I agree, well I didnt see it, but the horsecollar tackle, if it were one, has not been called with regularlarity this year. I think it is because it is the first year and the refs are still trying to process it.

As for the break..yeah, that was a big one regarding the punt.

Go see my argument about Liberty...where I praise you guys! I still think you guys could win the PL or IVY...just like we could.

Congratulations to Albany. Great victory. I thought MU would win that game, especially after the 1st half and the way they held McCarty in that first half. Great second half adjustments by Albany.
