Game Notes (http://epic.unh.edu/unhwildcats/media/football/FBgamenotes/TowsonGameNotes.pdf)

As senior running back Robert Simpson (Brockton, Mass.) plowed into the end zone to score the deciding touchdown in a 33-21 Wildcats’ win over Northeastern (Oct. 18), he not only sealed UNH’s fifth victory of the season, but put the program just one win away from achieving a milestone 500 victories.

The Wildcat football program, which is now in its 115th year, has been redefined in recent years as one of the most dominant teams in Division I-AA, now named the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Their four-straight playoff appearances and four victories over FBS schools since 2004 have set the program apart and turned it into one of most consistent contenders in the Colonial Athletic Association.

However, the history of UNH football goes much deeper than the Ricky Santos and David Ball show that emerged on the Durham campus in 2004. In fact, before that season, the Wildcats compiled 459 victories and won the Northeast Conference Championship twice and were crowned Yankee Conference Champions 11 times.

100 win period, 1893-1929:
*Northeast Conference Champions 1929
*100th win at Connecticut 7-0 (Nov. 9, 1929):

200 win period, 1929-1953:
*Northeast Conference Champions 1929 and 1931
*Yankee Conference Champions 1947, 1948, 1950, 1953
*200th win home against UMass 32-12 (Nov. 21)

300 win period, 1954-1971:
*Yankee Conference Champions 1954, 1962, 1968
*300th win at URI 26-0 (Oct. 30, 1971)

400 Win period, 1972-1993:
*Yankee Conference Champions 1975, 1976, 1991
*400th win at Villanova 45-14 (Nov. 6)

497 Wins, 1993-2008:
*Four-straight trips to playoffs
*Four wins against FBS schools

Im not sure why the story says 497, perhaps it was written before the two most recent wins? But a win today will be the 500th for UNH.

it looks like they have tried to run the wildcat offense a few times and it has been very unsuccessful.

On another not Towson seems to be moving the ball, besides the pick they have been moving.

and TD

I am in South Florida so I hardly get any NE games.

This is exciting to see on TV, normally I get regional DII games or SEC games.

Great TD pass though

I believe a win next week by Grambling State will be their 500th no other team can reach the milestone this season... I believe Tennessee State reached it on September 20 against Eastern Kentucky (If the W/L record page I'm looking at is accurate).

Good game today for UNH, and a solid turnout, though the fans did not really realize the game started at 12 (students still filing in around one).

Terrance Fox, J.T. Wright, Mike Boyle, Scott Sicko, Kevon Mason, Bobby Simpson are all big threats, and Kackert's coming back soon. Tough to stop this offense.

The defense did not play as well as the score indicates, but a couple of key picks by Ryan Hinds were a big help. Anytime the defense allows 14 points, UNH is going to win.

Need to take care of business against Hofstra before the big one against 'Nova.

A win over Nova, at Nova, would be an enormous win regardless of this game. From a technical perspective, Nova's loss gives the possibility of Nova missing the playoffs with a bumpy end of the road effort (losing to 2 of 3 of Northeastern, UNH and Delaware). That's extremely unlikely, obviously, but better chance than JMU missing out.

With that said, after watching this game, that game against 'Nova is going to be real, real tough. Tons of weapons there, and a real good defense.

Believe me I know a win over Nova would be huge. I was hoping for a Nova win today to lead to a Nova letdown when they played us.

Congrats, UNH and Coach Mac. If I am not mistaken, Coach Mac participated in 23 wins as a player, 52 as an Asst Coach and 67 as Head Coach = 142 of 500 total. Not bad.
