in women's soccer. The Lady Toppers are the defending Sun Belt Champions and went to Sun Belt powerhouse Denver (14 - 2 - 2) (7 - 1 - 1) and gets an improbable 1 - 0 victory to go to (13 - 0 - 3) (7 - 0 - 2). WKU currently has the 4th longest unbeaten streak in the country at 16. The Lady Toppers have two games left in the regular season and both are on the road. Sunday @ North Texas (12 - 2 - 1) and @ Middle Tennessee (9 - 5 - 2) on Halloween.

WKU is currently ranked 12th in the Great Lakes Region and Denver is ranked 8th in the Central Region, North Texas (12 - 2 - 1) received votes in the Central Region. Hopefully, the Sun Belt can get 2 teams in the NCAA Tournament this year. The Sun Belt have six teams with better than .500 and DID have two with unbeaten record until Denver went down.

WKU is one of 4 teams that is undefeated this season and the other teams are Notre Dame (16 - 0 - 0), Stanford (14 - 0 -1), and UCLA (13 - 0 -2). These three teams are ranked #1, 2, and 3 respectively in the soccerbuzz.com national polls. All regional rankings are in relation to soccerbuzz.com.

WKU would probably have more notoriety if they were in the MVC but stubbornness rules the day. The MVC would have had 2 teams in the NCAA Tournament and wouldn't have faced each other in the first round. Our women's team is expected to do some damage this season. Looking forward to the game in Springfield. xthumbsupx

No votes for WKU in national poll...

Not sure why that is the case, but that goes to show what the national soccer pundits make of the results. Read somewhere that WKU has not beaten a legitimate top 40 team...that true?

Unfortunately yes. However, Denver the team we just played was in the Top 50 in most computer polls. Also, Denver was ranked in the Top 10 in their region. The schedule hasn't been the toughest this year, the schedule is what it is. I did also notice in some computer ratings that the conference was rated 23rd.

The out of conference games are home games against: Mississippi, Morehead State, Butler, and Eastern Illinois. The away games were against: Eastern Kentucky, Murray State, and Belmont. The Lady Toppers had two exhibition games against Memphis and Evansville. Winning games gets you a chance in the tournament. Flying under the radar is a good thing for WKU. xthumbsupx

Spoke too soon. WKU (13 - 1 - 3) (7 - 1 - 2) gets their 1st loss of the season to North Texas (14 - 2 - 1) (8 - 1 - 1) on a penalty kick in the 90th minute. WKU was down 0 - 2 11 minutes into the game into went on a 3 - 0 spurt to take the lead in the 66th minute. On the 85th minute North Texas ties it up at 3. Next for the Toppers is on Halloween against Middle Tennessee.
