UNC Asheville senior Kenny George has had part of his right foot amputated confirmed by ESPN. In August, he comes back from Nike's Big Man Camp with MRSA infection on his right foot. Several doctors suggested that surgery is needed for the infection.

It is very unfortunate that his basketball career is cut short.

that's a real shame - I remember a pic of him and Tyler Hansborough where Tyler only came up to his shoulder. The man takes up a lot of space - too bad for him and UNCA....:(

I'm alarmed about how that treatment-resistant staph bacteria could cause an infection so severe, he needs it amputated. It's like 1870 all over again.

MRSA's not always very easily treatable. Can even be fatal as there's only a small handful (less than 5) of antibiotics that could even work against MRSA.
