Some campaign watchers think North Carolina could become a battleground state in the upcoming presidential election. Saturday, the state of North Carolina definitely will be a battleground state in the race for the 2008 Southern Conference football championship.
Saturday, the SoCon’s top four teams – Elon, Wofford, Appalachian State and Furman – are involved in two big games that will occur 135 miles apart. These four teams are a combined 14-1 in the conference. They are all ranked – Appalachian at No. 1, Elon at No. 3, Wofford at No. 4 and Furman at No. 18.
