There are some things that you can count in October - the leaves changing color, the weather starting to get colder, and in this election season, presidential debates discussing something wacky (like, say, Joe the Plumber).
In the world of FCS football, fans can count on seeing teams like Appalachian State, UMass, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, and Montana in the FCS Top 25, with San Diego and Dayton vying for the Pioneer League title, and James Madison head football coach Mickey Matthews keeping the Virginia area newspapers filled with copy from his entertaining press conferences.
But looking around how the conference races are shaping up, there’s not much else that seems, well, normal.
