Just finished my AGS ballot. Picking the last 5-7 teams was a little tough. I found myself looking for teams to be ranked based on what happened to some the the teams that lost at the bottom of the poll. Not an easy week.

I think I sat staring at my ballot for 15 minutes with spots 19-25 wide open.

Hello San Diego, Sacred Heart, Dayton and Albany!!!!!
DetroitFlyer, there's no longer a mid-major poll. Based on GPI, none of these teams deserve to be within 15 spots of the top 25, right? xpeacex

FYI, Texas State is now 4-2 with wins over 3 FCS teams (including #3 ranked McNeese) and losses to FBS-SMU and a decent (3-4) SUU.

Texas State will be just on the outside of my Top 25.The loss at home to SUU still has to count for something. I know they're decent, but that's a game TSU should win at home.

In no way should any of those teams mentioned be in the top 25, but your statement is incorrect.
Albany was 37th in the GPI last week. xcoffeex
Probably will drop though after this week with UNH and Delaware losing.

I put one of those at #25

None of those should be in Top 30.
Albany's loss to Delaware looks bad, the loss to UNH and UMASS are still question marks. Wins...meh.
San Diego and Dayton's record gets them a look...then look who they have played early on (the weak sisters). Now...DF before you say Albany got spanked by you guys...that is not at issue here.
When Dayton and San Diego play one another...the winner will most likely be close or in the Top 25.
Right now...no.

In no way shape or form should San Diego be ranked or even considered for playoffs. They only play non scholly teams.

They do play UC Davis the last week of the season.

Don't get me wrong, I think San Diego/Dayton should be worried about beating each other and making the Gridiron Classic. With their schedule/results, that's where they belong in the post-season.
When you play in weak conference (MEAC, Big South, Patriot, PFL, NEC) you MUST schedule tough OOC games to make up for your weak conference opponents if you want to be considered for an at-large.

Agreed
You should, however, avoid playing them four weeks in a row, all on the road, to start the season.xeekx

Why? They beat Angelo State by 7, Northern Colorado by 3, and lost at home to Southern Utah by 14. All their win over McNeese tells me is that the Southland is, again, not very strong.

Agreed. They SHOULD of lost to Northern Colorado. They beat a crappy SWAC team at home and lost at home to a 2007 O-FER team.
Rank them because they beat a team that everybody was overrating because of D2 and NAIA wins? Thats crazy.

I wonder if W&M will appear at the bottom of some lists... good games against NC State and Villanova, pounded VMI and Norfolk State (as would be expected of a good team), and beat a very good New Hampshire team at their place.

Look at the roster. It is basically the same McNeese team that went UNDEFEATED in regular season last year. They did lose Bryan Smith, but not much else.

You are wasting your keystrokes here I'm afraid. Win out and you will be there by the end of the year.
