Is it on of those private high school vs. public high school games.

Both public schools. Naples is the defending 3A state champs. Esterpo has been shut out 4 times in 6 games and has given up no less than 42 points.

At least the high school I attended isn't that bad. They at least score, they lost 55 - 6.

Good god almighty. 70-0 at half?!? Jesus that's insane. I feel bad for Esterpo. If only they could've scored at least 3 points.

That's ridiculous. The coach could have called off the dogs a lot sooner. What goes around comes around. xsmhx

Short of making his players fall down what should he do? This is a 3A school they only have so many players and they all played even some of the JV kids. Unless Naples plays USF, Miami, Florida St, of Florida they won't be getting blown out that bad if at all.

The score was 70-0 at the half. Are you telling me there was nothing the coach could have done to slow things down? I don't buy that rationale, sorry.

They only scored 21 points in the second half vs 70 in the first. Obviously things slowed down a bit.

Too late. He should have called the dogs off when it got to 50-0.

Look at the boxscore:
Punt return for a TD (1st half)
Interception return for a TD (1st half)
Fumble return for a TD (1st half)
80 yard TD run
45 yard TD run
37 yard TD run
34 yard TD run
20 yard TD run
Naples threw SIX passes the entire game. Six. They completed all six for 107 yards, and most starters were out before halftime.
Unless you expect the Naples players to lay down, take a knee, or tackle their own players, I'm not sure what else could be done. This is football, not T-ball, where everybody gets a ribbon and nobody loses.

They never played their leading rusher. Their starting QB got pulled at the half. Their second-string RB got pulled at or before the half. One of their JV players made the INT for a TD. They only had 6 pass attempts in the whole game. What more do you want?

For Esterpo to stop trying to play ball?

This coach did nothing wrong.
He didn't even play some player's from the jump and it's not like they were passing.
The other team just plain sucked turd's and need to be told so.
SINCE WHEN DID WHINNING ABOUT AN ARSE KICKING BECOME THE NORM IN SPORT'S. xsmhx
Not being mean but that's the truth.
It would be different if that coach was running his 1st team, throwing, TRYING to score.
Heck.xlolx
The parent's of HIS team got mad because their kid's that were on the starting team didn't get to play at all and pad their stat's.
That coach knew the team he was playing was garbage and did what he could to be a sportsman by not playing his best player's or even his 2nd best from the understanding I got from the article.
If they were so bad they let 3rd liner's romp up and down the field at will, then that team and school need to look at their own program.
That's sport's.
There is a chance you will get tore out the frame.
LEARN TO DEAL WITH IT INSTEAD OF WHINNING ABOUT IT.
Bring a scrubb highschool football team to a game in Mississippi and see what you would get.xlolx

If the coach of the winning team called off the dogs (benched his starters) early in the game then he really can't be blamed for much.

Also add 222-0 Georgia Tech (coached by john heisman) vs Cumberland College. Story goes that Cumberland had canceled their football program but still had to play the game under contract. They sent up a fraternity team and got whopped!

I was unable to find a score for Naples most recent game. However, I did notice in a picture of their scoreboard that Naples won the 2001 5A state title; last year they won the 3A state title. No wonder they are this successful in this classification. xlolx
