John Clements
Hugo Souza
Dino Vasso
Matt Parent

Tom Manning?.... injury updates: Chad Kackert -out JT Wright-out

Tribe still doesn't know if Phillips and Riggins will play. Riggins and Grimes are a new breed of running back for W&M, and I think we need both for this game. Keeping up with UNH will be alot easier if we have some semblance of a rushing game to help with time of possession.

If Phillips can't go, this will indeed be the battle of the "RJs". Similar style QBs.

Kackart is questionable for this game...I think he sits this one out unless UNH is losing and needs a spark..I don't think it's worth the risk for UNH for this game..

UNH has not beaten W&M since 1998. If someone is capable of playing, they'll play. UNH has missed Wright's size at WR considerably at times, so I'm looking forward to him being healthy.

I don't think I'd wait too long.

I'm sure his pt will be way down.

And by "I'm sure" I mean "I think" and by "I think" I mean "I'm not sure"

Hopefully Kevon Mason will get in there for a few more looks to see what he is capable of. He'll definitely be a size factor.

I agree.I can't believe he'd be 100% after just a couple of weeks, and when a knee is involved, and if he can't go full tilt, why take the chance of doing further damage.I think they have enough weapons to win this game without him.If he is really ready to go,then my worries are unfounded-let him loose!

whos W&M top defensive players?

Top defensive players are DT Sean Lissemore, DE Adrian Tracy, LB Josh Rutter, CB Derek Cox, and SS David Caldwell. Tribe has some defensive depth this year for the first time in awhile with 9 DLs, 6 LBs, and 7 DBs in the rotation. We were playing 8 DBs, but CB Terrell Wells is now out for the year.

I'm guessing ti will be the battle of the RJs. Laycock will start RJ unless Phillips is 100%. I think UNH is a slightly better match-up for WM than VU last week. If we play like we did the second half of last week from the start this week it will be a tight game. Agree with T4SF, Grimes has been stellar, but we could really use Riggins to take the running game up a notch.

Should I make a note that UNH's kicker sucks, or was this just a random poor game?

I certainly didn't expect -7 kicking points.

Any chance there may be some UNH D played here?

Evidently not.It was a pretty poor performance by a unit that knew what they had to do ,and couldn't.Same old story I guess.A lot of other mistakes as well-just an overall pathetic performance. xsmhx

2 bad calls = 31 2nd half points, 2 missed FGs, and a missed PAT?

Sorry dude, I was you're biggest supporter (had UNH as my #1 in the poll), but yew let Bill & Mary come into your house and bop you around in the 2nd half - don't pin this one on the refs...

WM gave up two interceptions and was horrible with our kickoff coverage. Both teams made mistakes. Give WM some credit though, we didn't quit and racked up more yards than UNH.

Great game!

Couple of quick questions...how bad was the roughing the passer? Didn't see it at the game as I was watching the throw? Also, was Phillips over the line. I thought he threw it from the eleven and the LOS was the 12, but what do I know...they would've scored on the next play, anyway.

Congrats to W&M. Both teams can't play a lick of defense. UNH was outcoached today.

My thoughts, for what it was worth. UNH should've been up, at the very least, 27-7 entering half time. The botched short FG and the failed 4th down conversion at the goaline (UNH may have the worst goaline set in history) were responsible for a still acceptable 21-7 lead.

In the second half, what an embarrassment. UNH's inept coaching staff continues to insist on giving FIFTEEN yard cushion to both WR's, and yet, does not blitz or put any pash rush on the quarterback. They also do not bother to cover either RB coming out of the backfield. Regardless of whether or not Phillips was over the LOS on that TD pass, I have EXTREME confidence W&M gets in the endzone on that drive.

The problem with UNH, IMO, is the coaching. A horrendous playcall on third and goal in the first half cost them a touchdown. Embarrassingly conservative playcall on 4th and inches (after a rushed play call on 3rd and inches where Simpson was not surprisingly stuffed) where they chose to punt when W&M had gone for it in a previous instance was a significant reason for losing the game. Knowing the defense wasn't going to get a stop, you had to go for it in that situation. W&M played to win, UNH played not to lose.

Now, I've been saying it for three years, this glorified nickel/prevent defense needs to go. I want to see press coverage and more blitzing. I want to see Jackson, Parent and Ware on the field at the same time. It's obvious this prevent and hope for the offense to make a mistake nonsense isn't working. Phillips had literally seven seconds numerous times to pick and choose where he was going. Enough is enough. It's getting ridiculous. If you're going to get burned, do it while giving yourself a chance to make some plays, and do it while getting your offense the ball more. Good grief.

Way to go Tribe! Another big day for Jonathan Grimes (23 carries for 144, 8 catches for 47, 282 all purpose), who is starting to look like the CAA Rookie-of-the-Year. If the Tribe D can learn to play a little in the first half, this team is going to be pretty good.

WREN,

I was going to post on this thread and vent my frustration. Now I don't have to-you said it for me.I'm disgusted.I couldn't believe some of the things I was seeing.Oh well, there's always next week in Boston.

What a painful second half to watch. It seemed like first and second downs for W&M were just free plays cause they knew they could throw for a first on third and whatever (long or short, didn't matter). To give up 31 second half points was just a big let down. xnonono2x

p.s. Add some more F$!&@#G seating....the game time crowd could have been so much bigger.

I'm not going to pin this one on the refs and I am going to give W&M lots of credit for perseverance and executing in the second half. Frankly, I felt UNH lost the game more than W&M won it because they didn't bury the Tribe in the first half when they had the opportunity to do so. With good execution in the first half they could have scored 10-14 additional points without exaggerating much. Not putting those points on the board killed the Wildcats.

Too many bad penalties that killed drives -- that holding call in the scrum near the goal line when the play wasn't going anywhere, the holding after the runner went by the blockers for a big third down conversion, etc. xmadx xmadx xmadx

A couple things to repsond to Wren:

I saw blitzers often during the game, especially John Clements. Might be why there is the soft coverage when the free safety has blitzed?
Couldn't tell if the pass was over the LOS because I was at the opposite 20 yard line.
Didn't see the rough either even though it was right in front of me. I was watching the ball.

Great game for the Tribe. Like Tribe4SF said, Grimes is a beast and game changer. I'm interested in seeing how Delaware responds next week after their humiliating defeat at the hands of Maine. xrolleyesx If the Tribe keeps improving and winning each week, by the time they play Richmond and JMU they will legitimately be considered a playoff contender.xthumbsupx
