Buried on the depth chart behind some very talented quarterbacks, sophomore Phillip Daugherty was faced with a tough decision heading into fall camp at Texas Tech.

Mike Leach has a history of going with seniors to replace departed signal callers, and with Cody Hodges and prized recruit Graham Harrell as the front-runners, Daugherty was on the outside looking in.
