Already done started with a few games in Europe while we weren't paying attention. Since I'm not quite ready for the start of the season, I will post something on the lighter side.... updates on new uniforms for the season:

Good to see an NHL thread....though it does have one of the more "blah" regular seasons, most of the league makes the postseason and home ice isn't that important.

Wings look good in the West, I like the Flyers in the East in what is starting to shape up as a potential "golden era" in Philadelphia sports.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Although the Flyers had a great playoff run, don't forget they squeaked their way into the playoffs in the first place. Also don't forget the last "golden era" of Philly sports only yielded two championships (Phils and Sixers). :(

As for the NHL season... I don't pay any attention until baseball is over (even though I'm not a baseball fan) and don't pay full attention until football is over. That said, I am perusing ebay and other sites for good deals on equipment. My winter season is only four weeks away. xthumbsupx

Busy sports weekend here in Tampa Bay, Game 1 of ALCS is tomorrow, Game 2 is Saturday, Bolts open the home schedule against Carolina and Sunday the Bucs host the Panthers.

Had to make a correction before Suncoast got on me. xlolx

Busy weekend in a lot of cities...

Caps opener Saturday night, USA vs Cuba apparently xsmiley_wix at the same time, Skins home on Sunday. Will be watching the Phillies, going to the Hens, coaching soccer and playing in a golf tourney on top of that. xoopsx

I'm coaching and playing outdoors this year! First time in many, many years for that. xthumbsupx I need new gloves and I think I'm finally going to bite the bullet and go to one piece, composite sticks. Damn I hate spending $100 on a hockey stick. xoopsx

The NHL has essentially the same format as the NBA, and most people don't consider that league very "blah."

The Wings look really strong, but Dallas is going to be scary too. And of course the Sharks will have a killer regular season, only to lose in the 2nd round, yet again.

I haven't paid much attention to the Eastern conference in the past, but I probably will now since I'm in the Caps backyard. I've loved Ovechkin ever since I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wylmOGotyvY

Hard not to back the Red Wings to win the Cup again this year

Montreal and Pittsburgh look very strong, they'll likely finish at the top of the East. Washington looks pretty good so far, but I think they're still a step behind the Habs and Pens

I saw a lot of love for the NY Rangers on ESPN. Not sure what that was all about, given they lost Jagr, Shanahan and Avery during the offseason. They'll probably still make the playoffs, but mostly because the East isn't as deep

As for the Isles, well, we're rebuilding. Let's just leave it at that....

Caps set a franchise record for fewest shots allowed in a game (10) last night. They also set a record for most empty seats disguised as fans in franchise history. Boxscore had it at 16,000... no way more than 11,000. xconfusedx xsmhx

Would post a picture I took of the empty stands in the middle of the first period, but I still can't attach photos. xoopsx

I hope the Flyers do well this year however I saw on the ticker a while ago the Flyers lost to their AHL affiliate Phantoms the last game of the pre-season. xoopsx

Getting closer to time to pay full attention to winter sports. Noteworthy... the Southeast still sucks bawls and the Caps will get the #3 spot with a point total that will end up being #8 or so in the conference. The NHL needs to address this. Complete BS that you get the #3 AND get to play those crappy teams over and over. xnonono2x Sharks are ridiculous right now. Rangers are sinking like rocks and can't seem to win without going to shootout. Flyers/Canes will meet on Thursday for the fourth time in 15 days. WTF?

Told you they weren't that good. Their point total is inflated from playing so many games early in the season. Losing that skill at the top of their lineup (Jagr, Shanahan) isn't easy to replace

The Isles plod along near the bottom of the East, now being ravaged by injuries, again. Too bad, because with the East's general mediocrity and the chance of stealing points even while losing, the Isles could actually make a run at the playoffs with enough healthy players....

You mean it's not normal to bring back a coach you fired mid-season to hire a coach that led your team to their first ever Stanley Cup appearance and then fired mid-season? xnutsx Does Al Davis or George Steinbrenner own the Canes?

I mean how strange is this thing...Fire a guy his replacement wins the cup; Fire that guy from a team that is tied for the last playoff spot and hire the guy you already fired. Maybe the thinking is if they fire Maurice again they can win a cup.

Very good two goal comeback on the road in a tough place. Its now safe to say that Vanek is earning his money now. If they can get better on defense, they could make a run. Miller would have to play great though and so far I don't know if he is up for it.

The Canes are saying WTF today. Flyers erase a 5-1 third period defecit and win the game in shootout. Actually got to see the first two periods at a bar last night. Highlights are here...

Not an NHL/hockey/Flyers fan, but those orange jerseys there were wearing in some game (I think last week?) were so damn sweet! Saw the highlights on the local Philly news.

That is all.
