OVC Football Players of the Week - Oct. 5

CO-OFFENSIVE
Derrick Townsel, WR • Jr., 5-9, 169 • Memphis, Tenn. • Murray State
Townsel caught seven passes for 165 yards and a touchdown in Murray State’s 32-12 road victory over Austin Peay. He did most of his damage in the first half when he recorded 138 yards and a 52-yard touchdown reception. The performance comes one week after a 161-yard performance. He is the first MSU receiver to record back-to-back games with 160 yards receiving.

CO-OFFENSIVE
Javarris Williams, RB • Sr., 5-11, 220 • Richmond, Texas. • Tennessee State
Williams rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown in Tennessee State’s 30-27 overtime victory over UT Martin. Williams, who had 26 carries on the day, recorded 107 yards on 16 carries in the second half of play. In overtime he carried the ball twice, with the second carry going for an 11-yard touchdown which gave TSU the victory. Williams also caught two passes for 17 yards giving him 180 yards on the day. The 100-yard performance on the ground was the 17th of his career. Williams now has eight rushing touchdowns on the season.

DEFENSIVE
Eugene Clifford, SS • So., 6-2, 195 • Cincinnati, Ohio • Tennessee State
Clifford led all tacklers with 11 stops (five solo) in the Tigers 30-27 overtime victory over UT Martin. Clifford, a transfer from Ohio State, also had a tackle-for-loss and a fumble recovery. The fumble recovery, which occurred in the first quarter, led to Tennessee State’s first score of the game.

SPECIALIST
Maurice Dupree, RS/WR • Sr., 5-10, 180 • Centre, Ala. • Jacksonville State
Dupree finished Saturday’s 38-17 victory over Southeast Missouri win 274 all-purpose yards. He opened the second half with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, the longest kickoff return among Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) players this season. He also returned three punts for 60 yards and caught three passes for 92 yards (including a 41-yard touchdown). He ranks 12th nationally in kickoff returns (29.00 yards/return).

NEWCOMER
Ryan Perrilloux, QB • Jr., 6-3, 223 • LaPlace, La. • Jacksonville State
Perrilloux completed 16-of-22 passes and two touchdowns in Jacksonville State’s 38-17 victory over Southeast Missouri on Saturday. It marked his second straight 200-yard passing game and he has now thrown eight touchdowns passes this season. He had touchdown passes of 41 and 7 yards, both of which came in the second quarter; in that quarter he was 7-for-10 for 90 yards. Over his last four games he has completed 67 percent (59-of-88) of his passes and has a passing efficiency of 157.75. He has been named OVC Newcomer of the Week three times this season.
