In all honesty, the first thing would be all of the great Northeastern colleges playing I-AA: the Ivys, the Patriots, the A-10. I think of those first. Then I expanded into the rest of the country, then I get to the playoffs.

underappreciated football
In 2003 Comcast TV did the Villanova - Delaware game. You had the son of a pro football player JJ Outlaw playing for Nova and Andy Hall and Sean Johnson playing for Delaware. Lou Tilley of Comcast admitted that "You know this is really great football that too many people don't appreciate." Duh!! Yes Lou 2 great teams, I-AA playoff ramifications, and a 21-17 game. Why not lead off with the latest Temple blow out on your news higlights instead?

1. the awesome boards sponsored by I-AA .org
2. the diversity of teams from small to large, rural, urban and suburban. In I-AA there are so many schools with character (and characters). With so many schools in I-A you can trade the uniforms and still have the same type of players running the same kind of plays in the same bland stadiums.

The fact that a relatively no-name team like JMU can come out of nowhere, win almost every single close game they play and thus get a top 10 ranking going into the playoffs, then win 4 games on the road and be declared national champions....
:)
And then LOSE all those close games the next season and not even get a chance to defend their NC!!
But that's why a playoff system rocks....any team can win.
