Southern and Jackson State is big enough, for sure, when the game is in Baton Rouge. But every other year, when two of the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s traditional powers get together in Jackson, Miss., like they will tonight, well, there’s that certain something.
“Honestly, if I can pick a site to play Jackson in, it would always be in Mississippi, because of that atmosphere,” Southern strong safety Glenn Bell said. “We know our fans are going to come, regardless. We’re going to bring at least 30,000 with us. So it’s just like playing at home, but it’s just something about playing in Jackson that makes it that special.”
