Next week the first update to the lists will come out. We all know who is on the list now but do you have someone on your team who you think could get a look for it?
Some players that I have seen so far that could get added include: CB Eddie Calvin, SEMO; LB Endor Cooper, Howard; LB Nathan Williams, Murray State; LB Ramon Humber, NDSU; DE James Ruffin, UNI; DE Danny Batten, SDSU; DE Tim Knicky, SFA; WR Marc Mariani, Montana;RB James Mallory, CCSU; QB Rhett Bomar, Sam Houston State; RB David Sinisi, Monmouth; QB Cameron Higgins, Weber State; QB Antonio Hefner, Tenn. State; and WR John Matthews, San Diego.
Anyone else? Post stats and why you think he should be on the list.

Half joking, half serious...ok more like 75% joking 25% serious.
Andrew Wilcox, K
11-12 FGs (long of 45), 16-17 PATs
5 for 5 at Georgia Southern including the game winner
3 for 4 vs Samford
So that means 8-9 in his past 2 games. He's also doing a good job on kickoffs as well.
I know he won't win it, but I'd find it hilarious if he did. Or if he just stayed in the competition for it.

I'm biased but Mariani for sure. He has been unstopable lately, granted it has been against SUU and a DII. If he lights up Weber we will know its no fluke.

Bomar is beginning to make a case. Has another open week this week, but if he can put up big numbers against Central Ark and McNeese with wins to go with it, he will solidfy his spot on the ballot...Remember, SHSU had game cancelled against Prarie View.
2008 current stats (3 games)
62-97, 878 yds (63.9%) 10tds 3 ints 292.7 avg/game 167.79 eff
-last two games he put up 340 yds passing on #16 Kansas Jayhawks and 323yds, 5 tds on Gardner-Webb last week in the first half.

One to keep your eyes on for Buck Buchanan award nomination...(3 games)

I'll second the nomination of QB Dally from Cal Poly.
SDSU has a sophomore running back who will likely be Payton-worthy in coming years, if not this year:
Kyle Minett (RB), 5 games: 444 yards rushing; 27 catches, 246 yards receiving; 8 TDs, all rushing

Scott Vossler, DE from Dayton should warrant some serious consideration.

Here is the updated list. There were a few guys I had on my list that you mentioned but a few more names added.
Note that these are just potential additions to the list. I don't mean this as the official list. Most of these guys will not make the list but are just worthy of discussing.

I like that you put James Ruffin on that list. He is a beast and helped UNI hold afore mentioned Kyle Minett to 40 rushing yards.
And I know you need to add some names, but whoever is on the list is only going to be looking on as Corey Lewis wins the Payton Award!

As much as I think Colt Anderson is by far the best defensive player Montana has, and also is major Buchanan Award material, he hasn't had the epic stats necessary to keep himself on the list.
Here's to hoping he changes that. Give 'em hell, Colt! xthumbsupx
Edit: Holy Crap! I didn't even notice Mariani on there! Rightfully so, too! He has been epic this year!

RJ Toman
Yes, RJ has played well so far for UNH, but based on my observations from watching all four games in person, I'd go with RB Chad Kackert as the Wildcat Offensive MVP so far. He has very good stats and has multiple big plays at important times during the game -- third down runs/receptions and great kick-off returns to keep momentum from shifting. Unfortunately, he missed the Dartmouth game with a knee injury and might miss some more time. From the UNH game notes before Dartmouth, here's what Chad has done so far:
Army: 68 rushing yards 1 TD, 30 receiving yards, 98 all-purpose yards.
URI: 164 rushing yards 1 TD, 9 receiving yards, 137 kick off return yards for 310 all-purpose yards.
Albany: 106 rushing yards, 53 receiving yards (1 TD), 99 kick off return yards for 258 all-purpose yards.
INDIVIDUAL NCAA STATISTICS (going into last week's games)
3rd All-Purpose Run. Chad Kackert 222.0 ypg.
12th Rushing Chad Kackert 112.87 ypg.
21st Kickoff Returns Chad Kackert 26.22 ypkr
From the statistics on the UNH website:
RUSHING GP Att Gain Loss Net Avg TD Long Avg/G
Kackert, Chad 3 39 340 2 338 8.7 2 72 112.7
Games missed will probably eliminate any true Payton watch candidacy for Chad, but only time will tell.

Yeah, he did have a few big plays against you guys last year.
I had many UNI fans talk to me after the game and stop me as I made my way out of UNI Dome. While many commented on Ricky Santos as would be expected, just as many made comments and asked questions about Chad Kackert.

Make sure to update your list to include RB Tyler Roehl when he's 100% and starts putting up big numbers agian! (263 yards rushing vs. Minnesota last year!) He got like 75 yards in game one after sharing RB/HB role with two others and the passing game. In game two he injured his ankle in the first quarter after already rushing 100+ yards! He tried playing a few downs in Wyoming (IDK why, tried to get everyone fired up?), wasn't a good idea at all. He came into the game off and on in the second half at Youngstown St to get the team fired up again and had pretty decent rushing yards along with 2 TDs! At 100%, he's scary-good! xnodx xnodx xnodx

The school website has him credited with 5 INTs and 5 PBUs but that is still impressive. He could easily get 10 by the end of the year! xthumbsupx
