No doubt that is true. I do, however, have some hope that the excitement about the Rays carries over after this season ends and attendance becomes more respectable next season. We'll see...

I liked how Mike and Mike this morning referred to Dick Vitale as the most well-known Rays fan. Interesting that the "most well-known Rays fan" is a bigger fan of a division rival.

Of course there are going to be bandwagoners, but the Tampa Bay Area is a baseball community, this is the first time the local team has provided excitement. The key is to keep these new fans that are being brought in.

I a very happy for the Rays and their fans and as an Orioles fan I am even more happy the Yankees are not in it! ... and elated someone other than the Yankees or RedSox won the division.

I went to game one of the '96 ALDS. We beat the Indians on a Bobby Bonilla grand slam, Camden Yards went absolutely ape *****! I get goosebumps just thinking back to that game.

Those Orioles team in 96-97 were GDed all-star teams.
