ALLEN PARK, Mich. - Published reports say Matt Millen is out as Detroit Lions president.
Millen’s wife tells ESPN’s Chris Mortensen her husband is leaving the position. The move comes two days after Bill Ford Jr., son of the team owner, said he would fire him, but didn’t have the authority.
Messages seeking comment were left by The Associated Press on Wednesday for Millen, other team officials and players.

What, was ownership in a coma for the last few years?

This is nice for the Lions and all, but the real question is, can the same ownership that picked Millen in the first place actually get a better replacement? xconfusedx

Apparently Ford, Jr., had some authority he thought he didn't have. Interesting to see who gets the full-time gig (Tom Lewand will handle all business matters while Martin Mayhew becomes GM) and what the future holds in D-Town

Too bad for Matt--He was a helluva player, but obviously not a very good administrator or prognositcator of talent...xsmhx

As someone who lived in Michigan during the Millen years, this is a welcomed decision. I'll never forget when people wore the orange masks to protest against Millen at the games. Those people love their Lions, but it was brutal.

Now, don't they also need to clean the entire house? Firing the GM is a start but don't they also need to get rid of the other people in the head office?
