Bison TD called back because of penalty, interception by Mertens that YSU scored a TD on. Bison are FLAT with the exception of the last 2 minutes

Bison O looks pitiful, except on last drive of the half. Bison D isn't tackling well at all. YSU offense looks good. Very solid running game. Great execution all around.

YSU tonight must have been a very different team tonight than the one I saw in Brookings Sept. 6. We shoved them all over the field in a game that was not in doubt for one second. I was under the impression that they had lost some more d-linemen since then.

Still, the Bison will get things together and will be in the MVFC mix, I'm sure of it. There are an awful lot of good players there.

No. Its simply realizing NDSU isnt living up to its rep. YSU isnt that good. NDSU threw 4 INTS! Should you move a team up because they had 4 INTS and ran through a defense that missed tackle after tackle?

Dont be fooled to think YSU is any good because NDSU plays poorly. Lots of times wins dont prove a thing. Its something they can build on though.

I can't even believe that's right. They managed 107 rush yards against us, about a third of that on two good plays. The last thing I would have expected is for YSU to bust off 350 against NDSU. What gives?

Speaking of injuries, that's the main thing I've noticed about the MVFC. We've played three games and have had at least five or six guys go down with injuries that forced them from the games. This week we played without two starting d-linemen and two starting safeties for most of the game.

The MVFC is just plain hard-nosed football, week in and week out.

I guess Bison fans have all hurried back to the kool aid stand. Most of them dont post here anyway but what I see is the weakness of the 2 yr QB. What you do if they are tanking like Mertens? Do you stick with him and hope he gets better? If he doesnt what do you do next year? I say you need to start a new QB. Mertens has failed. That doesnt mean he cant come back but how long do you wait to find out if he is worth starting?

Mertens needs to learn to look at more then one guy and also understand the difference between the color of the NDSU jersey and their opponents for that week. I think he has the ability to be a great QB and he needs to forget about measuring up to Walker or the fans standards. Just needs to show he can focus which he hasn't so far. Some of those picks were terrible. I don't pull the plug on him just yet. I don't think either backup has the experience or shown the ability just yet to step in. The only way I want to see them in the game would be if Mertens was injured and I don't want to see that happen. Mertens so far has been his own worst enemy.

I would stick with Mertens, he has had his mistakes, that come with learning how to be QB. In the next couple games, if he doesn't use these mistakes to improve, then maybe try someone else. For now, got with the guy with 4 games experience vs no experience. The Defense needs to improve a lot to be able to have a chance against SIU, UNI & SDSU, and maybe WIU & ISU. The next game, SIU, will be big for this team.

Freshman Kamryn Keys, who had 17 rushes for 81 yards total in YSU's first three games, had 21 for 146 and had Bison defenders grasping air all game long. The kid played fantastic, that many missed tackles can't be solely put on the defense playing poorly. Credit where it's due, YSU's backs simply outplayed NDSU's defense today.

Not having Tyler Henry at the Mike backer was probably one of the biggest reasons why YSU put up so many yards. Maresh was playing hurt most of the game at one of the LB spots, and Anderson is not a natural MLB. Humber did a great job picking up the slack from the other backers and the complete absence of the D line.

In their first 3 games, NDSU gave up 435 yards on the ground. One of those games, however, was Austin Peay who has virtually no running game or any type of game for that matter. In that game they only gave up 56 yards on the ground. Subtract that from 435 and its 379 yards in 2 games.

Needless to say YSU saw it on film, and ran the ball 56 times...for 340 yards! Every team has a weakness. Its not that NDSU is way overrated, give YSU some credit. NDSU is a very good team and I know they'll rebound, but thats the reason they were upset.

90 yards of Central Connecticut's 304 total yards was their final drive in the 4th quarter against NDSU's 2's and 3's. NDSU was up 43-7 at the half, with CCSU only having one drive over 30 yards in the first half.
