I'm not a naysayer but I'm pulling for the Blue Darters. #6 Armwood may be the best team in Florida.

Funny thing about that Olive Branch/Pahokee game, it didn't count for Pahokee. (crazy Florida rule)

It don't count here as for playoff's, etc., but it would have counted in the Mississippi Super 10 poll.

It took them boy's 3 qtr's to wake up down in Florida.
Then Olive Branch came home and lost that next week.
Guess that pi$$ed Olive Branch off cause they came back last weekend and literally crushed some team in Tennessee/Memphis.

In Maryland, private school poach all the good players from the public schools, so in the state alone, ranking River Hill over the likes of Gilman and Loyola in Baltmore Metro is debatable. But ranking them over Good Counsel and DeMatha down in DC Metro is a friggin joke. I hate DeMatha and GC, but they'd roll over those Columbia boys.

That's cause Pahokee's coach pulled all of his starters in the 4th. But that was a great comeback by Olive Branch.

I've seen Byrnes play and I wasn't overly impressed. They are a good team but I don't believe they are the best in the country. I will also bet Tuscaloosa County doesn't win the Alabama state title and I promise you they do not want to play Camden County GA. Another good team to watch out for is Newnan GA.

If you saw Byrnes vs North Gwinnett, Ga, the Rebs did not play well, even tho they won 36-21.

Byrnes will be playing Lincoln, FL this Friday, and Pahokee, FL on Oct 3.

One thing about Byrnes, they will play anybody.

2007:
Byrnes 18 Dr Phillips, Orlando, FL 14
Byrnes 38 Centerville, Ohio 31

2006:
Byrnes 27 Glades Central, FL 15
Byrnes 21 Moeller, Ohio 20

They are 3-0 right now and ranked at the top of the pack of UIL District 2 - 5A.

BTW- Did you know that this conference stretches from Amarillo to San Angelo (313 miles). You gotta love West Texas.

USATODAY #14 Apopka at #16 South Panola. xeekx
Both State Champ's from each states largest class.

Should be a good one.xnodx
They bringing in 5,000 more seat's for this game.
They should have near 10,000 at that game.
S.P. just installed that new artificial turf that everyone is switching to this past summer.

The town tailgate like a college team.
Their fan's start tailgating on Thursday night and go all through the school day on Friday.

What did you think of the University.:D
The coach nearly blew that game early by trying to throw deep.

S. Panola probably threw more passes in that game Friday night that they did in the entire season last year.

S. Panola played 7 game's last year where they did not even attempt a single pass.
If they had stayed with that formula in the 1st half, they would have scored at will on that Florida team by the second half.

I never doubted them, it takes alot of talent to win as many games as they did. They made the plays to win. Going into the game I didn't know what to expect, I'd never seen them before. They have a good thing going up there. Maybe they'd take a trip to the Sunshine state next year.

Remember, South Panola did hire the same coach who blew a 19 point 4th quarter lead in the 2002 Class 2A championship game by continuing to throw the ball. 2 interceptions and 22 points later, Taylorsville was celebrating their 5 state title and Eupora is still looking for their first. Of course, Pogue has much more to work with at South Panola, but he has blown a few big games in his career (north half championships in 2003 and 2004 to go along with the championship game in 2002).

We had a South Panola RB a few years ago named Kory Chapman and he was real good.

Yep.
They keep churning them out year after year.xnodx

They got 2 sophomore's sitting behind "Big" Parker, a junior, waiting for their turn.
When playoff time come, you won't see much throwing from S. Panola at all.
They will go back to their time tested pattern of run, run, run.
They get into district play this Friday at horn lake.
That should be a blowout but teams like Madison Central, Jackson Provine, Olive Branch are all waiting.

Poor Olive Branch.xlolx
I would put that team up against anyone but they are 0-8 against all time S. Panola.
They usually finish the year with 1 loss in the playoff's.
It's going to take Wayne County moving back up to 5A to take on S. Panola.

When they used to play together in 5A, Wayne County would smash S. Panola in the mouth and it would be a hellofa game.
Wayne County was the last team to beat S. Panola back in the 2002 5a State Title game.
That next year, Wayne County dropped down to 4A when all classes was re-aligned.

They adding 6A in 2009.
Hope they get Wayne County and Oak Grove back in the largest Classification.

No reson these school's shoould not be playing with the other beast's in Mississippi.

I don't know about most states but 6A in Florida isn't the best classification. 6A mostly consists of Dade and Broward County teams (Miami area). IMO 4A is the toughest class. That being said some of the look out for Chamberlain High (Tampa) led by QB Dontae Aycock.

Wayne County's win over South Panola in 2002 is the only meeting between the two schools. Also, Oak Grove is 5A, but they always blow it in the south half playoffs because they don't play defense. You're right about Olive Branch though, they've had a great run with absolutely nothing to show for it. No region titles, north state titles, or state titles, despite being the 2nd best team in the state for the last 3 years.

Anyways, I'm kind of like 813jag. I think 4A football in Mississippi is significantly better than 5A. Wayne County is 4A and they were the last to beat South Panola, and they're the odds on favorite to win 4A this year. Heck, last year Wayne County beat the state runner-up in 5A and went on to finish 5 in their region, thus missing the playoffs. West Point is 4A and they are the only team to force overtime during South Panola's streak. 4A also includes perennial powers such as Moss Point, Clarksdale, and West Jones. Also, there are 2 occassions where a team won the 5A championship in their first year up from 4A. And look at George County. They never could make it out of 4A south, but they almost beat South Panola in the 5A championship last year in only their 3rd year in 5A.

As far as the new 6 classification system the MHSAA is putting into effect, it will not change anything in what we now know as 5A. 6A will be the 32 largest schools, just like 5A is now. The new 5A will be the next 32 schools, so unless Wayne County picked up a few students and some of the current 5A schools lost a few, then they won't be moved up to the largest classification.

Someone fill me in on how they determine where and who are the best teams? I'm not saying anyone in MT could compete, but does anyone outside of the South even get looked at?

There are several series' in which teams from across the country play schools from a designated area. Ohio's elite host schools from Alabama, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, California, etc. every year. Those match-ups of "power" schools helps determine who should be ranked ahead of whom. Also, win your state championship, and you'll get considered for the following year, especially if you have a lot of starters returning.
