Penalties and kick coverage killed us early in the game. We fell behind, and the hill was simply too steep to get back up. Furman's got a good team, and as the guys were saying, this is a learning experience. Sorry about the video mishaps at the open, glad we got that sorted out before too long

Furman ran 20 more plays than Colgate for 515 yards total offense. Sounds like they outgained us by about 200 yards.

It's so nice to see FU play right to the end of the game! This is the third game we've played tough all the way. The last two years, it seemed a different team came onto the field in the second half. We just sort of phoned in most of the last half of a lot of games. It's so good to see these guys want it so badly.xthumbsupx We actually made some good adjustments at halftime!!!!! Last week we struggled against arguably the best defense in college football. We won't see that again.

Once Furman built up the lead, Colgate was in a tough spot. But in the first half and early in the 2nd, Colgate's offense was clicking... Sullivan went 17/21 with no interceptions for the game. And he had limited weapons- obviously Scott, and the big possession receiver Simonds, but nonetheless he was effective, adding some big runs too.

Now, Colgate has a very good OL... so I'm not taking anything away from those guys, but a defense has to be more disruptive. I'd like to see more aggression, as in the VT game. And I am mystified as to why a 5'8 guy was covering Simonds... a defense just has to make an adjustment there even if it means the starter is on the sidelines.

On the flip side, Furman's offense looked good. I was especially impressed by the long pass to Hendrix. It's good to have Hedden back- he'll be a primary target for Sorrells I imagine. Lots of good options at running back... Brown of course is very good, LaFrance is solid, and Uhaa showed some things out of the FB spot. I don't know how much he'll play though if the guys ahead of him get healthy.

The SOCON appears to be stacked this year. If we can get by Delaware with a win, then I don't see us missing the playoffs. Maybe this year will see three SOCON teams in the playoffs. I sure would like to have that auto-bid in Greenville this year. Gotta get by you guys and Woofy. And I'm not overlooking the Eaglets, Bellhops, or Firebirds either. This is going to be an interesting season.xnodx

Yes it will! I see Delaware as the point of making a statement for this team. They have the heart, they have the talent, now lets win the games! This is a completely different team this year as opposed to last years flop. If not this year, next year will be the year where everyone will fear the Paladin!

That's the argument I get from every Michigan fan from last year - "Yeah you beat us, but you lost to Wofford and GSU?", to which I reply, "Yep, and they'd have kicked your butts too."
