wow, just look at this list. i know the draft is never an exact science and there are always plenty of duds, but in '05? only edwards even remotely lived up to expectations.
1. Alex Smith - bust
2. Ronnie Brown - servicible back, nowhere near expectations
3. Braylon Edwards - one of the top WR's in the league
4. Cedric Benson - bust
5. Cadilac Williams - injury derailed bust
6. Pacman Jones - no explanation neccessary
7. Troy Williamson - bust
8. Antrel Rolle - servicible safety, no shutdown corner
9. Carlos Rogers - mediocre db, no shutdown corner
10. Mike Williams - bust

I exactly wouldn't go calling Brown and Williams busts yet. Brown was on his way to a career year last year before the injury and Cadillac was also becoming a star in the league. Both had nasty injuries and it's hard to say their busts.

Brown is a good platoon back, and he'll be (barring injury) in the league for many years to come, but comes nowhere near justifying a #2 pick.
Cadillac had that great rookie season, but it looks like he'll never be that guy again, due to his devastating injuries. Heck he may never play again, period.

I agree with Peems. Williams has a lot more umph left in him. And his college years showed great adversity. His NFL career is yet to show up.

Holy hell, that is an amazingly bad draft! As a Niners fan, it makes me feel slightly better to see that a lot of the other picks flopped. I think Smith could still end up being a decent QB, and he could have even ended up alright here if there wasn't a revolving door of offensive coordinators, and then his shoulder injury and subsequent mistreatment last season.
Why oh why did they ever get rid of Jeff Garcia?

Caddy had a good rookie season but he's been injury prone since college. He's a bust injury or not, Ernest Graham has taken his job and he doesn't look like he'll get it back.

Brown and Williams are ok... but no where near top 5 picks...
Edwards is the only one one to live up to his hype and he has done that and more... what a stud...

I don't like calling players that do well and get injured a bust.

Aren't there several 1st round "busts" every single year?

I think Brian Bosworth should be a top ten bust draft pick.
