FORT COLLINS (AP) - Colorado State and Northern Colorado have agreed to play in football for the first time since 1986.
The game is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2011, at Sonny Lubick Field at Hughes Stadium. The Rams have guaranteed Northern Colorado $225,000 for the contest.
Colorado State has never lost to the Bears, holding a 16-0-1 advantage in the all-time series. The two teams tied 5-5 in 1899 in their first meeting.
The last time the Rams and Bears met was Sept. 20, 1986. "This is something we've wanted to do for a while now," CSU athletic director Paul Kowalczyk said. "We've finally been able to make it happen. ... We're looking forward to renewing this series."
I guess Sac State didn't scare 'em off!
