Any combination of 12 RedSox wins or Yankee losses and its officially the end of the Yanks playoff run.

Also of note, the Yanks were passed by the Blue Jays to go to 4th in the AL east.

What a disgrace. xnonono2x
More motivation to get Sabathia, Sheets, and Texiera in the offseason though xrulesx xnodx xcoffeex

The only good to come out of this is that it forces Cashman to really start cutting out the duds:
Abreu (the king of irrelevant numbers), Damon (1 good year in a contract of several inconsistent ones is not enough), Pavano, Giambi (never the same after the juice), Ponson, Matsui (body breaking down), Pettitte (waaaaay past his prime)

No complaints from me. October without the Yanks is heaven sent. xnodx

I don't remember whining like this when the Braves missed the playoffs after 14 straight years.

No, but now I'm angry that it's becoming evident that the Braves ownership has no desire to fix the team.
Yankees fans should be glad they have an owner who gets them anything they want, and they'll probably be back in the playoffs in the next year or two.

From a non-Yankee fan point of view they need someone new calling the shots. The Joba situation is embarassing for them, they still can't decide what to do with a guy with gobs of talent.

Teixeira's overrated. CC's a fat slob that won't see the end of the 7 year deal he'll likely demand.
As a Mets fan, I hope the Yankees sign both of them.

The Angels want those two guys also..!!!
The Yanks will then be forced to pay WAY TOO MUCH (as always) and add years to contracts (as always)
interesting off season no matter how you slice it...
However - the Red Sox have shown just how deep of a team they really are the past 2 months
No Lowell - No Manny - No JD Drew - No Beckett - for over a month and they gained ground on the Twins and Devil Rays
all the while with a rookie short stop... just to top it off...
They are the deepest team in Baseball by a long stretch...!!!!!

To be fair, they replaced Manny with a legit All-Star from another team in Bay, not from their own system xreadx

But the key is, a young All-Star, with more than one year on his contract...:)

Ya but everyone here was still saying the Sox were done... What happened? They have only played better since the trade then at any point of the season when they had Manny

Agreed..!!
all the while using a pile of Rookies and smart trades
The Red Sox keep proving (except the Gagne Trade last year) they are the best run team in Baseball

The plan has always been to transition him to a starter. They did that this year. He got hurt and now they are being cautious. Not much indecision there.
