I think the Ole Miss score will be worse - if they hung with a #20 FBS school until the last 8 seconds, they will likely crush Samford. No smack intended.

I'm not sure what Colgate brings to the table besides their great tailback? But if they can't pass Furman's new 4-2-5 looks surprising strong against the run. IMO Brandon Williams and Juilian Hicks are way under-rated.
And I can't believe how well the young guys are playing, you have to like the future with Furman playing 12 freshmen and 4 sophomores on the two-deep.

Started off with two impressive games in 2008. Colgate's Scott will likely be the best running back we see in the regular season. Long road trip, hopefully we go up there, get the offense back on track, and take care of business.
Great defensive effort on Saturday. Our D was on the field for 65 snaps in the first half and only surrendered 3 points. That's well done right there.

Liberty 28 WCU 24
Dennis Wagner era gets a tough lesson in how much work WCU needs to be a good team again. Liberty was the 2007 Big South Champs and are already 2-0. They win here because they have the confidence to win while WCU is still licking their wounds from getting shut out against FSU.
Furman 28 Colgate-6. Colgate won against CCU last week but lost their home opener to Stony Brook. Furman lost to VT last week, but their D keep TECH to 28 points while managing to score once. The excellent Furman D keeps Colgate out of the end zone and their O scores four times.
FSU 70 - Chatt - 0. Many records by the FSU O will be broken during this game.
Elon 35 PC 7 - Elon has shown that they can rebound after travelling to Stony Brook and winning their last weekend. PC barely beat Fayetville State last week and this will be an easy win for Elon
GSU 28 - NE 21 Very unpredictable matchup that goes the way of GS due to the home field advantage.
OLE MISS 42 - Samford 7 - Samford has only played teams lower than their division so far and will get a welcome to Division 1 football this weekend.
Everybody else is off.

Why is that? Elon played fairly well against UR.....Elon scored more points in the first half than UVA! Then we come out with a scrappy win playing in literally a pond against a decent team!!

No Scores from me
Furman-Colgate
This one has worried me from the start. Furman usually tanks one early away. I believe this is Colgates home opener. Maybe I am a homer, maybe the early season tells me so. But FU ain't blowing it on this game. 7 to 10 pointsxthumbsupx
WCU Liberty
Liberty proves they can beat the bottom half of the SoCon

'Gate has a strong running back, but I don't think much else. If Furman's D stops the run like we expect, I say Furman wins big. If the RB for 'Gate has a strong game then it will be closer. My take: Furple 28 'Gate 10
Liberty has a powerful running back, and I believe he will test WCU. I think this will be a close one and I really want to pick the Cats but my take is: Flames 24 Cats 21
Noles and Chatty... nuff said Noles 70 Chatty 0
Although I like Elon cause they're in the SOCOn, I'm just not as excited about them as everyone else. PC plays a spread as well, but I beleive ELon has a better D, although neither D could stop BYrnes High School. My Take Elon:35 PC 17
GSU and NorthE should be interesting as Gasouth has a tendency to play down to its comp as was evidenced on Sat. and last year. I think it will be tight. My Take: Ga South 28 NorthE 17
Samford and Ole Miss nothing else to say Ole Miss 54 Birmingham Bulldogs 0
Woffy should handle BYE by 40 App will handle Bye by 48 and Elcid wil get by Bye by 32

Furman needs to put Colgate in the win column. Just for the sake of comparison, it seems last years team didn't kick it into high gear until a losing season was on the horizon. This years team seems more focused.
Jordan Scott will need a whale of a game. I don't really remember the last time a tailback gashed Furman for a lot of yards. We usually play the run very well.

One of my employees has a very close connection to a D lineman for Presbyterian. Word on the street is that their new D coordinator is struggling, and that the players are very unhappy with the schemes he has them running. Elon will kill them this week.

I'd really like to hear about what is going on over there. Furman's Julius Dixon went over as Defensive coordinator last season and then after one year moved on to Savannah State. Some reports had only one coach besdes the head coach returning from last season.
