NDSU's been on top before
North Dakota State came into 2008 with experience that goes beyond playing time. The fact the Bison answered questions about being ranked No. 1 last year may have helped them this week.

NDSU moved up one notch in the Division I Football Championship Subdivision coaches poll.

“I didn’t notice any difference with our team,” head coach Craig Bohl said Friday. “I think our players recognize that a lot of these things are a moot point. I don’t think they’re walking around like ‘we’ve arrived.’ It’s been business according to usual.”

NDSU spent six weeks as the top-ranked team last year before losing its final game of the year at South Dakota State. The Bison replaced Appalachian State, which lost to LSU in its season opener.
