Bull**** call by usual homer ACC officials. Should be 1st and goal at the 4 yard line.

VT has 151 total yards to FU's 31, but FU's D has played well when they had to. The offense has to put a few drives together soon or the D is going to be gassed by the end of the 3rd/beginning of the 4th.

Uh, Furman's always been considered one of the big 3 - nice try, Furman's no consistent cellar-dweller. xcoffeex

Listening to the game. Both VT QBs are throwing some horrible balls. The crowd is booing. Ugly.

Yep, Taylor broke it open with his legs. Look for him to be starting pretty soon b/c he at least gives the defense something to think about.

Heckuva show by the Dins. No one talked about this team in the Preseason as a SoCon contender, but they will very much be in the race.

Stats here. Furman holds them to 68 yards passing. The best hokie rusher was Taylor, a guy who was redshirted until about Wednesday.
Two impressive showings in a row by the Furman defense.

I'm feeling much better about the team than I was preseason. Lot of question marks coming into the season. Our offense didn't fare well against a tough Hokie front, but should be fine against FCS competition.
On to Colgate.

I was at this game. My sister goes to Tech.
Furman's D was very impressive in the first half. Stopping Tech multiple times and really only giving up one drive that resulted in the FG.
The second half was definitely a case of depth becoming a factor as Furman looked tired and the int, IMO, was a result of the offense trying to make too much happen.
Overall, though, Furman was impressive. Couldn't get a real read on their O because they were playing VT, but the D was stout.

ValleyRaider, how long is your starting Qb expected to be out? i think you guys will play a much better game this week against CCU than you had last week. I'm looking forward to next Saturday!

Relph is out Indefinately, at this point
Colgate is pretty tight-lipped about injuries, so if he returns, we likely won't know until the GameNotes come out
I do feel pretty good about Sullivan, though. Has some real talent, came from a winning program in HS (Monroe-Woodbury is a NY powerhouse), and once he settled in performed pretty well against Stony Brook. Add Jordan Scott to the mix and we could be pretty potent on offense. And from the sound of your defense today, we might need it

Now on to the real season. They have really looked good so far. Much better than I hoped for on the D side. But we always tend to play FBS opponents tougher than we do our own. Don't know why? Playing up to the competition maybe? Anyway, now let's see if we can carry that tough D over to the rest of the season, when it really counts.
Go Dins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!xthumbsupx
