I can't believe that no one has a thread on this considering it is the second highest ranked I-A (sorry just can't say CS BS) team that a I-AA will play all year. Coach Farley has stated on more than one occasion that this will be the best team that UNI has ever faced. That is scary considering that UNI has quite a few 60 some to 0 some games in their history books. It wasn't ten years ago (well maybe 11) that UNI lost to an Iowa team 66-0. I will say this, I truly believe in my heart that UNI football as a program his higher than its ever been. I feel that we will have a successful season and will do I-AA proud on Saturday. Un-fortunately I will have to say that BYU pulls it out, at least looking at it objectively. COULD UNI win? Absolutely, but if both teams play their best game I just don't see them pulling out of Provo with a W. Good luck to all "underdogs" this weekend. Go Panthers!!

Either way, good luck to the Panthers. BYU is a tough team, and they manhandled us last year. Their secondary picked us off time and time again and their D-line dominated our O-line. If UNI put up 4 TDs, I'd be really impressed.

I would concur with the score and the assessment. I watched the Eastern Washington game last year and will be at the UNI game as well. I love the fact UNI is coming to play BYU even if a lot of the people around here are clueless about 1-AA. BYU's offense is going to be a handful for anyone this year, loosing 1 linemen from last years squad means they are going to be a force on offense. Their running back is a sophomore this year, so he has more experience and the QB is pretty darn good for an underclassmen. I think the defense is where the biggest question will be for BYU. I think they have the personnel to be good, but that is where they lost they most from last year. I don't expect BYU to try and run the score up from what I have seen either, not their coaches style. BTW I follow Utah as well, I love football, I'm a football fan :) I just know more about BYU as it's closer to where I live. If I had the time, I'd even go watch Weber play tonight, but it just isn't in the cards and they probably wouldn't like me showing up in my maroon!

You can have drinks in an eating establishment, as long as you order food. As mentioned, bars require membership, so you pay a membership fee, then sit down and have some high dollar watered down drinks.

If you get a chance, go downtown and check out the temple together with the golden angel on the top of the spire. He is Moroni, the angel that Joseph Smith had a rap session with after partaking in some pretty radical fungus and licking the belly of a salamander in a cave.

Now tradition has it, if you happen to see the golden Moroni come to life up there and fly off the steeple, that is the official sign of the impending apocalypse, and instruction for all god fearing Mormons to head for the basement and start eating their two year supply of stored foods.

Glad to give you a thumbs up on that, and now.........you got that goin' for ya!!

Not really watered down...The beer perhaps, but then, it's hardly noticeable. Utah just passed laws bringing mixed drinks' alcohol content to be in line with the rest of the country.

As said, there are plenty of "bars*" in Salt Lake. Several in Ogden, too. No nudy bars, G-strings and pasties required. Besides, the one I preferred in the Ogden area seemed to have closed. Not enough dark red light, I suppose. xrolleyesx

Never been to gold medal plaza. Not in SLC that much. Only generally for work related stuff when I was working. I like going to the Gateway Mall if outdoor malls are your thing.

For the one/two day tourist, aside from the Mormon related grandeur (resisting urge to add self-righteous), not much in Salt Lake that you can't get elsewhere, except Olympic related stuff, I guess.. It's the outdoors stuff that makes the Wasatch Front shine.

I think you are right.

I would absolutely love to see UNI beat BYU, but I have this feeling that we are going to be in for a long game. I feel that Pat Grace at the QB will take some time getting used to and that our offense won't be as potent as last year. I am hoping that the defense will be improved. But there are too many questions right now to predict a win. Right now I just want a respectable, close game (within two touchdowns would be awesome).

the 41-17 score (24 pt loss) isn't going to turn any heads with the scoreboard watchers.
But IMO, the Panthers played a decent game. Did some good things, but showed a few areas that could use some improvement.

BYU has a good team, and I'd like to see them go undefeated and stick it to the BCS.

I really hope Pat Grace is okay after taking 3+ helmet-to-helmet hits, and that the rest of the UNI players that got shook up are okay as well.

That late hit call on our DB in the second quarter may be the worst call in college football I've ever seen. Even the BYU-biased announcers on the Mtn said it was a bad call.

Our offense showed signs of something really special this year - receivers with little experience stepping up. Their DBs must have been all over Gray because I didn't see him catch one pass.

The defense needs to work on the same thing that killed us last year - short passes over the middle and out patterns.

Well played game UNI. I wasn't far off at all with my prediction of 49-17... half perfect!

I'll throw out some random thoughts about the game in no particular order.

1) That late hit call on the UNI db was a bad one, other than that, the officiating was pretty good. I've seen worse.

2) UNI has a pretty tough QB, a couple of those hits hurt all the way up in the stands. I heard them and I was 3 rows from the top.

3) UNI has a pretty decent team, I'll have to keep following them and see how they do this year. I thought UNI payed BYU pretty darn well for the most part. I know the score didn't really reflect it, but it wasn't a bad game to watch

4) The new 40second rule didn't speed this game up! xsmiley_wix

5) I think UNI will make some noise in the FCS this year if they take and learn from this game.

6) It was nice to meet PantherRob82 and pester him with texts during the game ;-)

I was very impressed with how fast our defense was yesterday. Thompson and Harris would probably be in the two-deep roster at Iowa or Iowa State.

Gray and Lewis will be very anxious to bust loose next week asBYU's defense keyed up on them.
