very nice plans... that is also a beautiful building... it seems sometimes the only way to get something like that passed is to include dorms or classrooms but i guess it would be cool to live in the football stadium

Nice plans. Now why wasn't JSU asked to join the SoCon?

I believe 18 million of the 60 million to be spent on the project is to support the dorm section. The stadium would be a very cool place to live plus if when we move to the FBS the university could rent them to alums for Gameday condos.

JACKSONVILLE - The Jacksonville State University board of trustees on Monday formed an exploratory committee to investigate a possible move to the NCAA's Football Bowl Subdivision.

The group was asked to report to the board's athletics committee at the Oct.15 trustees meeting with information about the cost and feasibility of the jump from the Football Championship Subdivision, formerly called Division I-AA, to the FBS, formerly Division I-A.

I like the versatility of the stadium/dorm.
I've often thought FCS schools should look at Major League Soccer when it comes to stadium designs. A lot of MLS stadiums seat about 20,000 and are designed to host concerts and other events. That way the clubs can help pay off the stadium.

Take Crew Stadium for example. It looks like an FCS football stadium.

Now it has a stage in one endzone and it doesn't hurt the atmosphere either.

I could see an FCS school building one of these. It make sense to make the stadiums adaptable and Jax State is doing a good thing with theirs.

Probably because sadly, some of our academics. There is also the "private" factor... meaning most of the schools in the SoCon are just that private - that's one of the things that made the puppies (samford) attractive.

Still - I'd personally love to be in the SoCon.
