This is one of the worst stories I've ever read. Sounds like everything that's wrong with adults getting too involved in kids games. They should be embracing a kid that supposedly is really good versus banning him.

What's this teach your kids? If you can't be smarter than the Asian kids, goto a different school?

How about this line...

"Jericho's coach and parents say the boy is being unfairly targeted because he turned down an invitation to join the defending league champion, which is sponsored by an employer of one of the league's administrators."

I heard this on Mike & Mike this morning.

They should have just set a limit on how many innings a pitcher, league wide, can pitch in a given period of time. Singling him out and banning him from the league because he is too good is just plain stupid.

It's not like he's hit anyone throwing hard. I just don't get it.

When I was 9 they sent me to the 10-12 league, and that pretty much made everybody happy. They were sayin' this kid only throws 40 mph right? That's pretty darn slow. What's up with the soft egos in New Haven???

Keep chuckin' Jericho, all haters be damned!

They should have just explained to him the great benefits of moving up a division. If the kid is that good, he's not going to gain anything from playing against kids that much worse then him.

But then again parents are stupid sometimes and can't see the big picture. My brother (HS football coach) has the problem all the time when he wants to bring up Freshman and sophs to play on the Varsity team. Parents don't want their kids to be the small fish in a big pond even though in the long run it will make them a better player. I have never understood that philosophy.

Time to play ball and tell the parents to shut up.

I understand the JV to Varsity reasoning for player development. But 7-8-9 baseball? Kids just want to play with their friends. So he throws hard, does he field or hit just as well? F that. Let the kid be a kid. He can get serious if he wants to in high school.

Never too young to start developing your "retirement plan".;) xcoolx

Seriously though, I understand your point. That is something that has been lost in Little League (and soccer leagues, etc....).

This is ridiculous. I was never good enough at sports to be "pushed up," but I was in school and it is better to be challenged.

This country is getting soft. The liberal types don't want any kid to be traumatized by being dominated in any way. It all started in Little League that every player must play at least two innings even if they suck. In my area, the "minor leagues" don't even keep score. What the hell is that? God forbid if you lose. Isn't that part of life?

I say again.
This country is getting whinney and wimpy as hell.

These so-called adult's need to be kicked in their arse.
Just keep putting out the lesson that EVERYBODY has the same skill level and if someone is better than you, just cry and mom and dad will fix it for you by dumbing down the talent level.

I am so glad this fugged up wimpy attitude has not trickled down here to Mississippi.
These kid's compete and understand that everybody don't get an award just for showing up.

Little league baseball is ridiculous to begin with. The parents have ruined it for the kids. This situation is silly. The kid should have a right to play. What kind of message does this send?

Agree 100%. Just promote this kid to the next level. If he's THAT good then playing against older and more experienced competition will make him great. It sounds like he's developing into a good baseball player at a fast pace. So give him competition that is suitable for his level of play.

Have people even thought about this is just a 9 YEAR OLD BOY that just want to play baseball with his buddies, on the same team that he has been on since he started.

This kid is not thinking about talent level.
All he know is his buddies are on the same team he is on and he they are having fun.

Is this what we have come too.
Actually saying promote a kid up to play with kid's that are not his peer's just because of some dumb, fake ass adult's that will spout the "Golden Rule of Competition" when talking about how bad pro athelete's attitudes are?

Do everything have to be about what the adult's want.

They do this, and that kid will start to develope a "star" attitude quicker than MaDonna.
Then everybody will label him a spoiled athelete by the time he's in highschool.

Let the kid be a kid.xsmhx

That should be his choice. If he's 9 he should be allowed to play with other 9 year olds if he wants to.
If you force him to move up you are exposing yourself to a huge lawsuit if he gets hurt.

Screw that. Cobblepebble turned 5 yesterday, I've had him throwing passes since he was a baby. I firmly told him yesterday that I expect him to be ready to QB the local high school team by the time the season starts. He has no time to be a kid.

You sound like that lady on the commercial for E60, when she says her young son is the next Tom Brady. xlolx After Cobblepebble is one and done in high school, let the Noles get a crack at him. xlolx
