View Full Version : Red Sox at Yanks (again)

Tues

Wakefield v Pettite

Wed

Byrd v Ponson

Thurs

Lester v Mussina

The Yanks couldn't really have asked for better pitching matchups. They don't have to face Beckett and face Lester with their best pitcher throwing. Boston is beat up and the Yanks swept away the thorn in their side (Orioles) over the weekend. Could get interesting cuz the Sox could really put the nail in the Yankees season, or allow them right back into contention.

You DO mean wildcard contention, right?

The Yankees and their fans don't believe in the Wild Card.....

Boston's last ever trip to the House That Ruth Built xnodx

Because, let's face it, they're not likely to join us in the ALCS this year :D :p

I still think its soo wrong that the two teams close the regular season at Fenway.

When does destruction begin at the old stadium? Maybe they can have the final preseason game between them there in late March and eliminate that idiotic idea that the final event there should be a hockey game.

The hockey game is definately a no-go. NHL is already moving forward with the game in Chicago (Wrigley, I think) for Hawks-Wings

The old stadium won't be destroyed, it's being turned into a park. The only thing assured to happen, if I remember right, is the upper tiers will be removed, and the field will be used for Little League and the like. Presumably that work will begin shortly after the season ends (whenever that may be... xsmiley_wix)

I didn't realize being 3 games behind Wild Card leader Minnesota with a month to play was the end of the road xconfusedx :p

you're 5 games behind WC leader Boston and possibly soon to be 8. If the Sox sweep NYY then as I said the season ends around 4 pm Thursday xsmiley_wix

Duh

Except if the Yankees sweep, then they'll be 2 back of the Sawks who may suddenly find themselves out of playoff position as well. I can do math too xrulesx xcoolx :p

Which is a very strong possibility since the Yanks won't see Dice-K or Beckett and ManRAM is gone. Boston is 200 games under .500 at the stadium. We'll see 203 4 pm Thursday...

IDK. I guess enough people care to make a 3 page (so far) thread about it.

Pulling for the Yankees in this series. I want the AL Central to supply the wild card this year. Imagine a playoff without the Yankees or Red Sox. Beautiful.

Two overhyped and overrated teams that will both be watching on TV while Anaheim, Minnesota, Chicago, and Tampa compete in the playoffs. Who cares about the f'n Red Sox and/or Yankees? They're so 2004, and I have long since been over them. Time for this played out rivalry to step aside and let somebody else have their time in the spotlight.

I understand your frustration...
but (as you put it) time in the "spotlight"... this must be wrestled away... not simply wished away
The Yankees and Red Sox are both good and bad for Baseball (depending on where you park your car after work)
The Twins have some 20 plus road games left this season (that's a lot) and they have a tough schedule to hold the wild card, never mind win their division

Good luck... xpeacex
