Just sat through his "thoughts" on the men's basketball Gold Medal win. Totally tearing them apart and saying they were lucky to come away with the gold.
They kicked a$$ throughtout the games and should be praised but all he could do was criticize. Just be happy with the win you idiot.

Walton has always been an idiot. Always will be.

Did you watch the game?
They were lucky to win
The defensive intensity that defined their dominance in all prior games was lacking. Spain scored at will from the paint. Kobe Bryant took over at the end and made the difference, but it was a 2-3-4 point game at multiple points in the 2nd half
We were the best team in the tournament, but this was no blowout

No doubt that was a close game, but I wouldn't use the word "lucky" to win. Whenever Spain stepped up and cut the deficit to 2-5 points, U.S made the plays to get back to a comfortable lead. Really only faced game pressure on a couple of possessions, after Deron Williams hit that three they had a nice comfort zone. And don't forget Spain's a good team that played well.

Must have watched a different game then me. Spain was on fire from mid-range. At one point, the US outscored Spain 45-20 in the paint. IN fact, the rebounding edge was in Spain's favor because of the long misses and their guards had nearly half of the total rebounds.

Perhaps I was unclear in using calling it the paint. How many times did Rubio or someone similar run a curl and drop a shot in from high in the key?
Certianly not as strong in the post, that is true xpeacex

This is true-- and Rubio ran the curl like it was a clinic. But as a former college guard, I wish the coaches thought anything inside 12 feet was the paint (which, is where Rubio went bananas from).
As a reference...and I am not trying to be a donkey, I just want to explain it, the paint is generally the painted area below the outline of the "imaginary circle" and the blocks; generallly, the paint is 8 feet in.

I tell young kids till I'm blue in the face, a good mid-range jump shot and a runner are great shots for guards. Even though I don't play ball as much now, I still love those shots.

Considering my left-hand was junk on the dribble but strong in the air, I lived off of shooting off mid-range curls and dribbling through the gaps to throw up a runner.
I agree...best shots a guard can take. It is a lost art.

Especially when you're 41 and playing with kids half your age. xnodx
