This is an interesting topic from an article of the same name posted on the Bleacher Report. It was good to see a pretty decent showing of guys from current FCS schools on his list. Included are:

All others listed are from FBS schools except one from D-3 (Jagodzinski at UW-Whitewater). It would be fun to build a similar list from active FCS coaches.

DFW, I was wondering about this as well. I believe Paterno was All-East in 1948 and 1949 (this really meant something, too, because it was before the Ivy League and much of the East de-emphasized football). Single-handedly beat Colgate on Thanksgiving Day one of those two years.

Cornerback...quarterback...well, we're both right. Joe played on both sides of the line in those days, and still holds the school's career interception mark. How many coaches can make that kind of claim?

Trivia question: JoePa became head coach in 1966, but joined the PSU coaching staff way back in 1950. His first gane as an assistant was a 34-14 win over Georgetown.

Colgate's Dick Biddle was 2-time All-ACC at Linebacker while at Duke in the 70s (you know, before they truly stunk)
