Okay, I think somebody did this last year, but after a few years of passing interest, I want to pick an EPL team to follow.

Teams I don't want to root for:

Man U.

Teams I really don't want to root for, but will if it comes to it:

Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool

Some factors I'm interested in (in this order):

American Players
Spanish Players
History/Tradition
Success

Can some of the more knowledgable fans help me out?

EDIT: The List (will be added as suggestions are given)

Fulham
Everton

If you want to go off American Players, Fulham's the team for you. They have US Nationa Team Player Eddie Johnson and Clint Dempsey. Brian McBride was the captain, but he left the club just a little while ago to go back to the MLS. They got into the EPL in 2001 and last year, finished one spot above relegation due to a header with 15 minutes to go in the final match. Fulham is regarded as the most American-influenced EPL team.

Thanks for the help. I remember that McBride had played for them after you said that.

Not crazy about their lack of success, though, but for now they're on the list.

Here's what I did: I just watched a bunch of games and found out who I naturally pulled for. That team was Liverpool. There was no rhyme or reason why I picked them. I just seemed to pull for them whenever they played, so that's who I sold out to.

Root for the Dutch or Portuguese. Their leagues are much more fun to follow. xnodx xrulesx

(And, sad to say, you can see many players in these leagues 'before they were stars' when they leave for the bigger money of the english/italian/spanish leagues) xcoffeex

Also, Everton has US National Team keeper Tim Howard. They took 5th in the EPL last year. Plus, their nickname is the Toffees, which I find to be kind of cool.

Everton's been added to the list.

I will have to admit, bandl, that I haven't even followed the other leagues loosely. Why do you say they're more fun to watch?

I like EPL and SerieA because they are consistantly on FSC on the weekends...I chose Arsenal after watching Van Persie, Fabregas, and Adebayor a few matches...really likes their style!

Stick with the Bundesliga, baby. Highest scoring league in Europe. xthumbsupx
