Anybody ever go to a Canadian Football League game?

When I was on vacation in NH during the last week of July I was only a few miles from the Canada border. So I took the family to Quebec to watch the Montreal Alouettes play Hamilton. The stadium surprised me because it only sat 20,000+ people, but up there were saying (in French of course) that the team has plans to move to a domed stadium. Mrs. Cobblestone is French so I got a translation.

As for the football itself, I was impressed. I'd say it was just a notch or two below the NFL. Montreal won 40-33 so there was plenty of scoring. I tell you one thing; it's easy to see why a QB like Flutie was able to be the success he was in that league. That field is freaking' wide. For a QB who likes to tuck it and run, that league is a field of dreams. Big @$$ end zone as well.

Anybody else ever attend a CFL game? What'd ya think?

I've never been to a game, but I've become more interested in the past year or so. Mainly due to Richie Williams playing for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. He received CFL Player of the Week honors last week and gets his third start of the season tonight against Winnipeg. xthumbsupx

Saw him play in the game at Montreal. I was impressed with his running, more so than his passing. He might do just fine in the CFL.

He threw for 293 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 60 in last weeks win. xrotatehx

He's gonna get better the more time he spends in the game. I just wish I could watch. :(

I went to a Saskatchewan Roughrider game in 1992. My High School Advanced PE Class (this is for another story) got to go to the game.

Stadium held about 24000, and it was very loud.

I really like the style of play. The game we saw had about 90 points scored.

Saw a Blue Bombers game about 15 years ago in Winnipeg. They were playing the Birmingham Barracudas... really. Strange game... and the Winnipegers were not happy bunch... they got blown out.

i just remember the fans lamenting the american expansion.

Living in Canada but I have not yet been to a CFL game but get 3 a week on TV and I go to the University games (same rules) on Saturday.

I actually really like the Canadian game, with one exception. The defense has to line up 1 yard away from the ball, it really takes away from the quality of the line play. but other than that it is a great game. I think it would really take off if they wouldn't have the Canadian requirement (Rosters have to have so many Canadian players) as it brings down the depth of quality on the teams.

The kicking game is much more important and I like the rouge and the lack of downing of punts. The wide field and allowing motion towards the line of scrimmage makes up for the 3 downs.

I've always wanted to see an Allouettes game. I'd love to check out the cheerleaders. I think Québeçoise women are hot, especially Lanny Barby (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanny_Barbie)!

I go to Montreal regularly. I cannot believe Lanny Barbie is who you picked as HOT for a Quebecois.

To each his own I guess.

Well, she was hotter a few years ago, I'll concede that to you. There are some really hotties in porn comming out of Montreal lately.

Same here, I married one.

As for the Allouettes cheerleaders, let's just say I was kicking myself for leaving my camera back in the cabin in NH. My apologies to AGS for that. xoopsx

When I was in the UMass marching band we once performed halftime at a Montreal Alouettes game. I don't really remember much of the game, though.

He is struggling tonight against the last place bombers

Hopefully he get it going in the second half.

I am enjoying flipping between the two steel town football teams, Hamilton and the Steelers
