Alain Bernard, the world record holder in the 100 meter freestyle (47.50 sec.), and the anchor of the amazing French 4X100 meter freestyle team, had these choice words for the United States team,
"The Americans? We're going to smash them. That's what we came here for."
Indeed, the French were the HEAVY favorites to win with 3 very good sprinters. I guess the Frogs didn't expect 32 year old Jason Lezak to walk down Bernard in the final leg of the race with Lezak "smashing" (how appropriate) Bernard's World Record time when he swam the last 100 meters in 46.00 seconds.
Once again it is proven that: America > France. xthumbsupx
