Fixture at the Olympics since forever, passed away in June.
I'm sure Jim would have loved these games, sure miss his commentary. xthumbsupx

I'll always remember Jim McKay for Wide World of Sports, 1972 Munich Olympic Tragedy, and of course The Olympics.
Just not the same without him.

Costas is a nice guy, respectable commentator

I miss McKay but let's get it straight. Costas has more sports knowledge in his little toe than McKay ever had.

There's really no comparision, apples and oranges, McKay was more into a diverse array of sports, while Costas in more mainstream.

sports knowledge... yes.
but jim mckay was far better than costas at capturing the essence of the olympics. mckay was great at being able to reflect how the games transcended sports... and i agree with what's been said... it's just not the olympics without him.
