Not exactly my favorite time of the football season but since we have some big FCS names playing in the NFL, are you going to make an effort to watch preseason football? I for one, am going to try. Tyler Thigpen passed Damon Huard as the #2 QB for KC. KC plays Chicago tomorrow night (of course not on TV at the beach, however) and they expect Thig to get a lot of PT. I will watch it when it's on NFL Network in a couple of days. Bengals play Green Bay Monday night on ESPN. It will be cool to watch and see how much PT Jerome Simpson and Corey Lynch get. I think Lynch moved up on the depth chart, if I remember correctly. San Diego is fired up about Tolbert, our former FB, so I expect they will put him in a lot to see how it goes.
What about y'all?

I can't stand preseason. I watch it because football is my passion. And the Saints might be playing some good rookies. Too bad Tuff Harris was let go. :(

Lynch played well in his first intrasquad scrimmage having 3 tackles 2 passes defended and an interception. I imagine he'll get some time in preseason.

The best thing about pre-season is seeing the underrated or appreciated FCS players get their shot especially at high profile positions like QB, RB and WR...

Agreed.

That's the only useful thing in preseason.

Joe Mays, rookie MLB out of North Dakota State, will be getting lots of reps in the pre-season for the Eagle. He's currently listed at #2 on the depth chart. I'll be watching NFL network tomorrow night at 7:30 ET.

GO NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

play tonight against the cards. I'll be surprised if they play Ellis tonight, considering I don't think he's sealed the signing deal.

OTOH, The cards have some rookies too. Tim Hightower (RB - UR) has been in the NFL for less than an hour and has his first TD.xthumbsupx

Dallas at San Diego tonight. Mike Tolbert, former fullback at CCU was picked up after the draft by San Diego and signed as a FA. The team is really big on Mike and have been talking great things about him. I hope to see him get a lot of PT tonight.

3 of 4 former Coastal players have played in the pre-season so far:

Tyler Thigpen - Played the entire 2nd half as QB for Kansas City on Thursday. He struggled a little early in the half but improved as the game went on. He threw a (game winning) TD pass with just over a minute left in the game.

Quinton Teal - had an interception for Carolina AND had the second most tackles in the game.

Mike Tolbert - Started in San Diego. He had some great blocks, at least two to clear the path for the RB to get in for touchdowns. Oh, and had one TD himself! LT was being interviewed during that play and had nothing but great praise for Mike. I heard something about him being expected to be LT's personal escort into the endzone during the season.xthumbsupx

Cincy plays in Green Bay tomorrow night so we will see how Jerome Simpson debuts. I have no doubt he will have his own first NFL game highlights!!

It's so awesome to see such great plays in the NFL by guys that you watched for 4-5 years every Saturday. I'm "almost" excited about pre-season football :D

How could you forget about Corey Lynch? Also Jason Hunter was from App a few years ago and will be in this game.
