Something a bit different moved across my desk Friday. No, it wasn't a cream cheese-covered everything bagel. It was a press release from ODU announcing a 10-year agreement with CBS Collegiate Sports Properties.
The rub of this is that ODU is going to let one of its employees go so that he can join CBS. After that, he'll be the ODU liason in charge of landing TV and radio games for the Monarchs outside their normal CAA block. Oh, and there will be extra signage at games at Foreman Field, The Ted and The Bud. Typically, this arm of the sports program has been handled in-house and has at times exhausted the staff.
It's worth asking: is ODU's pursuit of some specific possible TV deals with CBS something that might affect CAA football coverage when the Monarchs enter the league in '09? After all, CBS has their own collegiate network (CSTV)...
