View Full Version : Artest to Rockets?

Apparently, Ron Artest is heading to the Houston Rockets for Bobby Jackson, a first-round pick in 2009 and Donte' Green.

The Rockets were hoping that Aaron Brooks took over the back-up guard position from Jackson. Green was not going to contribute next year and a first-round pick is what it is -- a first-round pick.

Could be a gamble...could be the Rockets finally making the move that moves them to the next round of the NBA playoffs...

Thoughts?

Rockets starting line-up:
C: Yao Ming
F: Ron Artest
F: Shane Battier
G: Tracy McGrady
G: Rafer Alston

Bench:
Brent Barry
Aaron Brooks
Luther Head
Chuck Hayes
Joey Dorsey
Luis Scola
Steve Novak
Dikembe Mutumbo

Wonder if something else is in the works with Battier....he and Artest are pretty similar players.

Didn't they have great expectations for Green?

I don't know if the Rockets want the baggage Artest brings. TT, is this a done deal?

It's a done deal. The Rockets will give up guard Bobby Jackson, a No. 1 draft pick next season and another player to be named later.

Even if Mark Berman is reporting a done deal (though the Chronicle did beat him out on the story) -- it's not. Can't be completed until mid-August for some reason or another (something with Donte' Green)...

you can't trade a player until 30 days after the time you signed a contract with him. rox signed green on july 14th.

As a Kings fan I like this trade alot. Young future stud in Greene, another first round pick, and cap space with BJax's expiring contract.

Good deal for both teams.

Yao already called out Artest. Bad idea. Artest is what he is, and to just "provoke" him is dumb. I think this will work, and hope it does for T-Mac and Artest.
