Not too bad...helps out the salary cap in 2008 and then his salary goes up...may be able to renegotiate early if he's doing what he's done for the Saints...

Colston's deal is for four years worth $15 million with $9.675 million guaranteed. He will receive a base salary of $500,000 this season (2008). That figure accelerates to $2.25 million in 2009, $2.7 million in 2010, and $3 million in 2011.

Additionally, Colston has incentives for performance in the deal. They include:
**$200,000 for making the Pro Bowl
**$100,000 for 75 receptions
**$100,000 for 1,150 receiving yards
**$100,000 for 7 or more touchdown receptions

Good! Pay the man! Too many slugs in the NFL are making more than that for doing less! I'm on occasion caught up in the whole rabble of 'they make too much!' but heck in Colston's case, totally not applicable.

In fact, use Colston and Hester as a model for rookie contracts. They made much less compared to the first rounders and produced more than many. Result? A NEW CONTRACT (well we're still waiting to hear what Hester gets).

Anyway, Saints need to lock down Ellis' contract as well as resign Jahri Evans as soon as possible.

Things can be good in the Big Easy really quick.
