Gundy seems to be interested in pushing for the "ultimate mandate" in which the Big 12 teams would play each other. That'd rotate five home, six away and vice-versa. Big 12 teams tend to like seven home games. They would not be for it...probably would also keep the Big 12 out of the BCS "title" game...

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said Tuesday he would favor playing an 11-game conference schedule and doing away with the current North-South division format.

"I think we ought to play 11," Gundy said. "Why should I have to play the No. 2 ranked schedule in the country and somebody else play the No. 80th schedule? And at the end of the year they put both our records on the board."

Gundy said each Big 12 school would play one non-conference game and the two teams with the best record would play in the league's championship game.

Ugghhh...
In high school, we belonged to a 12 school league. At that time, most high schools in PA played 11 game schedules. Every f--king year, we played the same f--king teams. This continued from when I was in 1st or 2nd grade to beyond graduation. It was boring. You need to mix in at least 3 non-con games.

it will never, ever happen. Just like the big eleven (I mean ten) will never go to a 10 game conference schedule.

BCS teams rely too heavily on their buy-in home games to bring in money and to try to pad their win column.

They do the same thing here in Hillsborough County. You play all of your games against county teams. Just rotate home and home. xnonono2x

To be fair, I understand why schools do it. In our case, the furthest distance between any 2 schools in the league was about 22 miles. Travel costs were low. You suited up, jumped on the bus, then returned to your school to change and shower.

One of the 12 teams was actually in NJ. It was the furthest east team, and one of the 2 I mentioned above. With the longest distance they had to travel being 22 miles, they were closer to all 11 conference members, in PA, than to the next closest high school in New Jersey. As a result, they used to play an 11 game schedule exclusively against PA teams, and were ineligible for playoffs in New Jersey.
